One thing that I would say Coach - T did not leave the new Head Coach with a lack of players with talent.

Correction. He did not leave them with a lack of preparation or talent.

You are born with talent. Coaches have nothing to do with that.

Coaches can recruit inside the school, be involved in all levels of the program (biddy ball and up), and create an environment in which kids enjoy playing and want to play. Hence an increase in numbers and an increase in talent.

Other than that you have to develop the talent you have. Whether or not that has been done effectively is a matter of opinion.

I don't agree some people may be born with talent others develop talent.

Talent is something you either have or you don't and you do naturally. Skill is something you can improve on, practice and get better at.

Hard work can make you bigger stronger faster. With hard work you can become a better-more instinctive player. But a player can only be as good as their talent lets them. Some reach it. Some underachieve. Some overachieve.

Tell Michael Jordan that when he was 16 and not even good enough for varsity. He has talent and from harder work than you can fathom, when he sets his mind to something he does it. Maybe he overachieved? Read where he got beat at ping pong and looked like a fool, until he worked on his game for 6 to 8 hrs a day until he has been undefeated for the last 4 yrs. Nobody on here understands that type of dedication.

So your saying Michael Jordan became the greatest basketball player of all time without having superior talent? Maybe he was a late bloomer but becoming Michael Jordan takes a little more than just hard work and competitiveness.

I guess what we're saying is some people have ability. Some people have drive. Some have both. Those are the ones that become great. There's been no finer example of this than Trevon Pendleton. He has god given athletic ability and a drive to be the best.

I don't agree with this 100%. You can't turn an average athletes into Michael Johnson but with strength training and plyometrics you can make them faster.

I think we've all seen kids who have gone as far as their natural ability will take them. They developed earlier then the other kids and paralayed that into on field success. Then when said kid is in HS and the others have caught up to him physically, they aren't the star they once were. They never had to work for it until now and a lot of them falter in terms of performance. Conversely, we've also seen kids develop and continue to improve through their careers by hard nosed work ethics along with some solid coaching. While I agree with westfan in regards to talent being natural, I've also seen plenty of cases to the contrary. Coaching most definitely matters.

Back around to my original point. Coach Triplett and staff have prepared them well the last three years and they have plenty of talent and maybe more experience than any team they go up against in the SOC. So they have a great start JMO.

Not to be negative towards the kids because they do have some talent. But you can't hide the fact that we've won 9 games in two seasons. So either we've been down on talent or they haven't been coached to their potential.

Yea I believe it and find it hard to believe that you don't. Shows how much football you actually know.combine the experience this team has with the loss of talent elsewhere except maybe Waverly and add in the new and improved phenomenol new staff and they should have a showing this year.

To clarify, I'm lampooning your statement about Trip and staff and the job they did the last 3 years. I fully recognize this team will return a lot of experienced players.

And I didn't even mention the talented incoming freshman class with several that can contribute. Trip and staff put a heck of a lot of time into these kids and many have improved because of them. If you don't know that then you definitely don't understand high school football at its best and worst especially I this league.you can't take away what the coaches previous instilled in the team no matter how arrogant you are.

One more thing. I am not as convinced as some of you about new and improved but I will support them anyway.
