None of the paid coaches reapplied, but one vol. did and would be a great asset anywhere.
Re: Portsmouth West Football 2014
It is funny that everybody wants someone with experience. Not everybody can start out with years of experience. You have to start out your first year some time. I heard through someone I work with that one applicant was an assistant at a college.

Exactly. You have to start somewhere.freebee wrote:It is funny that everybody wants someone with experience. Not everybody can start out with years of experience. You have to start out your first year some time. I heard through someone I work with that one applicant was an assistant at a college.
Johnson and Pendleton from their college days have connections. You really only need about 5 coaches in high school anyway and they already have 2. May be better to start completely fresh anyway. We'll be fine.

Cant see why it would be hard to find coaches. Not sure what college has to do with it. Its not like people are going to move to West Portsmouth to make a couple grand to coach unless they already live close and have some other means of income.
Re: Portsmouth West Football 2014
I hope do have some connections. We will fill out a staff, I'm sure of it. If you can have 4 paid assistants, it's a blessing. Many schools only have 3. I hope we find a good mix of young and old coaches. An experienced d coordinator would be nice.
Re: Portsmouth West Football 2014
Haven't heard anything about interviews, but I did hear that the coaches who applied from last years staff are Bond, Carver, and Mike Bricker, but I don't even expect them to get interviewed. The season is getting closer, they should try to have their staff by the end of May. Any word on who's coaching the Jr. High?
Re: Portsmouth West Football 2014
So none of the past coaches that have applied have been interviewed. That seems strange but I guess West has a process they want to follow.

Don't get me started. Not gonna comment on what I think the process is or where it came from but lot of people know.

Has the Assistant Coaching interviews started? If they have been completed does anyone know who the coaches are at this time? I have some interest because I know someone that applied.

There needs to be a coach topic along with "other sports" cause that seems to be all some folks care about. The answer is there hasn't been any interviews yet but I'm sure it will be on here when there is some folks can find something else to gripe about. How about lets worry about the kids and talk them up!

Re: Portsmouth West Football 2014
Right on the kids. But I can understand why people are interested in the coaching changes at West. They have had the same assistants for a long time some of them have been coaching for both Tipton and Triplett from my understanding. So it makes sense there is a curiosity there. So far they have 2 coaches and a great group of players to work with. So if folks want to talk about coaching changes that is what they will do and I don't see nothing wrong with that. Then add to that the decision to close work outs and practices and even who gets a position, it is fodder for a web site like this.West Side Pride wrote:There needs to be a coach topic along with "other sports" cause that seems to be all some folks care about. It seems that you have direct contact with the BOE could you ask them when the coaching interviews will start? This would help Blue Devil and his friend. Thanks in advance for all your help and knowledge!West Side Pride wrote:There needs to be a coach topic along with "other sports" cause that seems to be all some folks care about.
