Re: Warren Job
I think they are waiting on Tressel to rethink the YSU president job and accept the offer for this one.

Re: Warren Job
Is the football job simply that, or does Warren have teaching jobs to go with that position? I must say, without a teacher actually coming in and coaching it will be difficult to find a quality high school coach IMO.

Re: Warren Job
That's the $6,500 (coaching stipend) or $35-$40,000 (teaching and coaching position) question!!!!!!!!! of which no one seems to know, even administration. Seems like it is one of those deals where there aren't many typical teaching jobs for coaches (Phys. Ed., ISS, etc.) so it's either hire someone who doesn't need a job or create something. Creating something is what some schools can do and get away with it........other schools catch hell from the public for creating positions.....depends on the community and school values.
Re: Warren Job
Howdy, you mention your Administration and Community---at what point does the Community decide that your Administration is being unfair to your kids by delaying the hiring of a coach?

Re: Warren Job
That is a great question.....one that the Warren community will have to answer. How does the community answer? Clearly the best way is to vote for your desired school board members....along those lines, participating (in a respectful and dignified manner) in school board meetings. The most successful coaching hires (I don't mean by wins and losses, but by a smooth process that brings in the best candidate possible) I have seen are products of school board and school administration reaching out to the community and asking them what they are looking for in a head coach. Newark City Schools did this in the offseason. They highly encouraged the community's involvement in the hiring process of a head football coach through open door meetings and surveys. Are you looking for many years of experience with a high winning percentage? If so, are you willing to maybe sacrifice in other areas, such as not that much desire to develop the younger levels and have the energy to recruit the halls? Do you want someone young and enthusiastic, but not all that experienced? If so, are you willing to take your growing pains in the win-loss column for the future building of the football program? Do we want a "football guy" or someone who understands the whole picture of education, teaching, and leading young men? This is just the tip of the iceberg when considering candidates. Not everyone will agree wholeheartedly on any one coach, but majority rules in our society.

Re: Warren Job
Fish was hired at board meeting, paper indicates he is in law enforcement in Athens County. Is this Albany Police? No other info about him seems to be in the local area. So Spartan fans what do you know about our new coach?

Re: Warren Job
I am assuming by the lack of posts, either positive or negative, that many people have given up caring who they hired. Sad.

Re: Warren Job
Looks like it will be the same ol same ol. Fish is going to be "O" coordinator, Curry Ryan defensive coordinator, with all the same assistants. Riffey, Johnson, and Hutchison. Heard they are going to be 4-3 and spread offense. Also heard Henthorn not playing and Isner moving to West Virginia with mom. Good luck but it does look like a long road to winning. Warren Schedule tough:
Parkersburg-L
Parkersburg South-L
Marietta_ toss up
Chesapeake- toss up
Martins Ferry-L
Athens-L
Logan-L
Jackson-L
Gallia-L
Portsmouth-L
in my opinion.

Maybe athens78 was right. Kind of looks like they are happy being a basketball school.

Re: Warren Job
Time to turn the page on a few of those assistants. Riffey has been there way too long and is a consistent with all the bad football that has been at Warren. His offense and style was out dated 22 years ago when i played for him, and today it's still out dated. Best of luck to coach Fish, and what is his background?

Re: Warren Job
Agreed. Problem is they absolutely refuse to hire someone who could change the culture. Heard they had a good younger candidate from a succesful program interview twice. Was wanting to invest from biddy on up and be around for a while. Decided not to hire him and no one knows why, other than it possibly dare to steal some of basketball's thunder
