These two teams remind me of the 2009 game with Waverly with Treavor Walls and W'burg, but this time W'burg is the spread team that relies heavily on the pass.

Having watched Valley play on VSN, I'm impressed. First, I thought they really hadn't played any teams that are very good so it's hard to gauge them. However, they have some players on this team #40 on the defensive side of the ball looks like he's a force W'burg is going to have to account for every play.

W'burg is a good team, but I'm still not willing to bet the house on them just yet. E. Miller and D. Miller are fantastic players, and can change the game at anytime. However, I still think once W'burg gets into a game to where they need to run the ball (a team has the athletes to shut the spread down,) they're in big trouble. As it's supposed to get below freezing temps Friday night, weather could also be a big factor to the Pirates as well.

Anyway, going to be a great game Friday night. SOCII Championship game.

I think this is the year Burg gets Valley again, and the Week 10 Minford-Valley game will be a great one.

Burg may very well get Valley, but Valley will crush Minford

How do you figure that Burg has the most speed in Southern Ohio (more than Valley)?? Yes Burg is fast but are they faster than Portsmouth? Nope (I've seen both multiple times) Are they faster than Valley (I think its even)...Burg is faster at the QB position but Valley has more speed at the RB position, Burgs WR are faster than Valleys but Valleys linebackers are faster than Burgs and so on and so on....

Essentially your argument is null because if team "speed" was a reliable indicator of success then Portsmouth would be dominating the SOC II ALMOST every single year :12222 :12222 :12222 :12222 :12222 :12222

Everyone seems to be be in agreement on this. Here is what needs to be looked at who is better at the other aspect of there offense. Can Valley throw enough to keep Burg from loading up the box. Can Burg run enough to keep Valley from pinning their ears back and bull rushing every down. This game is not going to be won by the team that does what they do best it will be won by the team that can keep the other teams defense honest and off balance.

I can't see Valley sending 6-8 guys on every pass play leaving their CB's in one on one against the Burg receivers. I know what Valley people are thinking that is what Liberty Union did to the Burg in the playoff game last year and completely shut down the Burg. The problem with that game is Burg was trying to throw the deep ball to much and Eddie didn't have time for that. Minford tried to send the house on just about every pass play and he ate them up with little 8-10 yard passes that Minford couldn't defend. They had no one that could cover Dylan Miller and Burg exploited it. When they did double up Dylan he found Claxon or May, who he hit on a bomb for a TD.
Where did I say Valley will be sending 6-8 players on any down let alone every down. Valley won't need to blitz to get pressure Loop maybe the best DE in the area. Plus Valley's LB are experienced and athletic not just run stoppers. If Valley does send extra rushers I wouldn't be surprised if it was only one.

I would be surprised if anyone is faster than valleys zach shope. I don't think this game will come down to speed. It's going to be all about who executes there game plan the best. Valley will have to be able to pass the ball and burg will have to run it.

Valley has won two in a row against Burg and now some posters think Valley has no chance this year because this group of seniors can't lose at Burg. Last time I checked Valley hasn't lost to this class since they were freshmen. Crabtree and his coaches must have figured out how to beat Burg spread so why not 3 in a row? They are 2 x SOC champs and until someone can beat them I'm taking Valley in another win by 4 pts.

Classy! And that would only add to the great rivalry games between Minford/Valley and Burg/West

Can anyone verify this?

In the series Wheelersburg leads 33-4

I heard that yesterday and wow if its true that is total domination!

The last 2 years Valley won. It just happened to be the weakest Wheelersburg teams in the history of the program. The pirates are back and will continue to dominate the series on Friday! Go burg

Thats series lead sounds about right. But the good news for Valley is they dont have to go back in time. Its all history and Wheelersburg has a great history. As far as Friday. Should be a great game. But my money goes on Valley. They are still the SOC2 Champs until someone takes their crown. They wont give it up easily. Will be a very physical game and Valley will bring their physical style and try to impose their will. I just hope everyone walks away healthy afterwards so that both teams can make a deep run in the playoffs.

When was the last time Wheelersburg was beat 3 times in a row by an SOC2 Team?

Which team has the edge?

Offense
Quarterback--Burg
Running Backs--Valley
Wide Receivers--Burg
Offensive Line--Valley

Defense
Defensive Line--Valley
Linebackers--Valley
Secondary--? Even (not really sure, Dylan Miller makes Burgs DB's good)

Special Teams
Would have to say even here. Both teams have excellent speed and very good, young kickers

So IMO, I would probably give Burg the Edge Offensively(that could be argued either way) Valley has the edge defensively and special teams should be even. Burg will have the home field advantage. So Burg gets the edge there and the comfort of home.

Should be an EPIC battle to say the least.

If this is the case it does not bode well for this years team. Burg this year and Burg last year is not much different. Same can be said for Valley. Both groups returned a ton of players that are a year older and more experienced. Burg has totally dominated Valley throughout history, but things are different now. As a Pirate fan I hate to admit that but your degrading of a good Valley program does not hold water. Valley is the team we must catch. Valley is the team that has had our number the last couple of years. Valley is the team that we have to get through to bring back the gold ball. We better bring our "A" because Friday night is going to take a great effort!

Valley better get them this year because of what I've seen from there junior classes on down, wow, Coach Crabtree may want to look into early retirement. The talent pool is draining fast!
