Pouring rain for 4 straight days? Burg also played on grass in week 6 and has been practicing on grass all week. The 2 games that Burg has played on grass have resulted in 98 points total....in the first halves alone. I'm sure the conditions won't be perfect, but if the forecast holds true and it is 65° tomorrow and mostly sunny, the field won't be horrible.

WIth the JV and Jr. High games this week and tonight the field is not in the best shape. It's pouring the rain in Minford right now, and will continue to about 6pm then supposed to clear up. With a chance of rain tomorrow morning. However, as it's supposed to be overcast all day, its not going to get warm enough and no sun to dry things out by game time tomorrow.

Agree that having a game on the field tonight will probably do the most damage.

I think that's the week they scored 42 in 1st quarter
Again this will be the first time they play on a WET and MUDDY field and our field anyway doesn't drain soo well it will be very hard to stick your foot in the ground to cut for pass routes and it won't be hot enough for the field to harden up or for the water to evaporate at all. The conditions favor the falcons hugely as of now.

You're telling me that minford is faster in mud? Is there no grass on the field? Wet field conditions hurt both teams equally.

I agree, that's the question I often thought about W'burg, what's gonna happen when they have to line up under center and run the ball? Shotgun snapping and throwing timing routes with a wet muddy football all night isn't the easiest thing to do.

An all pro professional like New England's Tom Brady couldn't do it against Cincinnati a few week ago and that was on artificial turf.

No I'm saying Minfords straight ahead game is better so the mud doesn't really affect us as much. But it affects burg more because the rely on timing and quick moves to break plays and that is slightly more difficult in mud.

I have always felt that poor field conditions favored the offense. They know where they are trying to go, but when you are reacting on defense and have to make a quick adjustment, you can get yourself in trouble. We will have to wait and see what the weather has in store tomorrow, but right now weather.com says "Partly cloudy skies. High 66F. Winds SW at 10 to 15 mph". Some sun and a good breeze should dry the field out at least a little.

The mesh points of the zone read option is much more difficult not to fumble with a muddy ball as well.

The rain will benefit Burgs offense more than it will benefit Minfords D. Be alot of defensive backs with loose footings. May hurt Burgs recievers quick cuts but they will adjust to the mud. I am just saying the mud will be harder on DB's against a passing attack.

And it's so easy is it to catch n throw a wet n muddy football, huh? Just how many times have you tried to do this in a real game?

4th- yes you're right it's hard on a defense too I agree. It's just harder on a spread offense that runs so many sharp cuts and depends on timing like burg does one slip an the timing is thrown off and the play turns into a busted one.

I am not sure that Minford really wants too many busted plays and E.Miller taking off with the ball. He ran for over 150 yards against Minford last year.

On turf in completely dry conditions. Plus I'd rather make him best us running then passing.

Radar indicates rain should be just about done. Tomorrow looks like a beautiful fall day and a great evening for football.

Is a muddy field minfords only hope of being in this game? It's all I'm reading. Minford is going to have just as much trouble in the mud and the burg. Unless they have some magic mud cleats! Haha get real..I LOVE SOC II FOOTBALL!!!
