I'm not sure what reason they would have to not vote them in. It increases travel miles for them, but it's an easy trip down 52.

FORREST SAYS: It's really one person, however the admin will get him in line. Not the coach.

If any school votes no I would say it would be Coal Grove and even then it would be iffy.
And if OVC offers any other School it would be Gallia Academy over Ironton and Jackson.
The OVC needs to look at what needs done to make them stronger and more competitive in football more than anything else Basketball is solid and baseball is decent with South Point and Rock Hill year in and year out good move OVC make it happen.

This could potentially change nearly every league in SEO if Portsmouth gets voted in. The domino effect will be interesting.

I could see it change every league but the SOC. I think the SOC is perfectly happy were they are and if Portsmouth goes OVC, then don't look for the SOC to seek Ironton.

Congrads Portsmouth on your move to the OVC a great fit for all your sports.
I would like to see Ironton get in the OVC be a great fit for them and be great traveling wise for them to.
As for not making the playoffs being in a weak league should not be a worry overall seems most years a 8-2 record now will get you if you play a good enough non-schedule be interesting in seeing what happens from here.

Thanks to the member schools of the OVC for voting my alma mater, Portsmouth High School, into the conference. I think the Trojans will prove to be a valued member of the OVC and will compete well in many sports. The minimal travel involved should help develop some good rivalries and bring more fans to the stadiums and gymnasiums.

Looking forward to seeing the Trojans competing in the Ohio Valley Conference!!

I think this is a great move for Portsmouth. Congrats on getting in a solid league. OVC hoops status just went up.

With the present state of Ironton athletics, its the best move. They should jump if offered.

Ironton is pretty much in the OVC for all sports except football anyway, so why not make it official?

I know when I was in HS, we played Ironton twice a year in basketball (boys & girls), baseball, softball, and volleyball, and I would imagine many of the other member schools did too, so they pretty much already are league members.

I think it's a win win for the OVC and ironton to become partners but the question remains will the OVC offer and will Ironton accept.
This isn't the 60's 70's or even 80's this is a time where the schools are all pretty much the same size and joining only makes sense for the fans and the travel that is involved.
