Teams most impressive and disappointing this year
Re: Teams most impressive and disappointing this year
I'm sorry noles_fan, should I be impressed with West for losing and disappointed in the 2 teams that beat them? Is that in any way logical? Not sure what you're getting at or wanting me to say. This isn't quantum physics, albeit it may be to you. I suppose you have a problem with the site AD being impressed with the Dragons as well? Nice try on the troll though sider boy! Swallow that!noles_fan wrote:I'm a bit confused by this You are impressed with Fairland and Portsmouth and disappointed with West. 2 of West's 3 losses were to Fairland and Portsmouth the other being to the defending regional champs. Portsmouth has 2 wins, they beat West by 7 and Ironton by 13. Both teams you are disappointed in. They got blew out by Minford the same team West just beat. I know this is individual opinions here but this one was pretty hard to swallow. The Oaf wrote:Impressed- Fairland, Portsmouth

Surprises- Chillicothe- knew they would be back, but not this quickly. A 9-1 season (if not 10-0) is staring them in the face. Nice to see Cavalier football back with a vengeance.
Southeastern- In Coach Gallagher's 1st season, the Panthers will have a shot at a playoff berth. Dez Perkins is outstanding and the Panthers are a bad snap away from being 4-2 and nearly a lock in Region 17
Disappointments- Adena- thought this would be a better season in Frankfort
The SVC in the non league schedule- Everyone knew it would likely be a down year for the league, but only 7 wins in the 1st 3 weeks is not good.

Re: Teams most impressive and disappointing this year
I in no way said you should be impressed with West. It is more about your logic in your picks. I agree with you on Fairland their 3 losses have come to 3 very good teams. Most West fans including myself thought West would have a better record at this point. No need to get so personal, I didn't realize questioning some ones opinion was prohibited. Just curious about your logic behind your picks. The Oaf wrote:I'm sorry noles_fan, should I be impressed with West for losing and disappointed in the 2 teams that beat them? Re: Teams most impressive and disappointing this year
They most likely will. The sad thing is Wahama is currently ranked #11 in WVSSAC Class A and even if they go undefeated may not be able to crack into the Top 8 (needed for a home game in Round 1.)gecko wrote: Wahama only lost 3 starters on offense and 3 on defense from a state championship team. They are up again as everyone expected. Everyone at Trimble at least knew they were going to be in a war week 2 and thats exactly what it was. Both teams knocked the snot out of each other. I hope wahama wins it all again in WV.
Sidebar: they're #3 in Total Points Scored across all 3 classes behind Morgantown (297) and Cabell Midland (285).

Impressive: Athens. Plain and simple, they're just good.
Disappointment: Ironton. I realize that it's a young team, but they're still the Ironton "We Don't Build We Reload" Tigers.

Impressive is Burg, Valley, Fairland...all very explosive.
Disappointing is Minford (experience and size but turnovers and lack of speed), Ironton, Coal Grove (very solid and competitive but lacking some intangible to win)

Nelsonville-York... I'm impressed those young kids are pretty good, but I'm disappointed there aren't any older athletes in the school that could beat them out. Coming from a school that always has great athletes it's just surprising to see that many young players contributing. I remember taking my butt kickings from the Gails, Call, etc and it made us tougher and more ready as we got older.

I'm a NY fan, and looking at the game program a few years ago, with only six kids playing int he 2014 class(at that time, not sure how many seniors are playing this year), I knew it would be a lean couple of years. Once this freshman class and this year's 8th grade class get to the soph/junior level, we should be back in business, but next year might be another rough one. We'll see.55Buckeyes98 wrote:Nelsonville-York... I'm impressed those young kids are pretty good, but I'm disappointed there aren't any older athletes in the school that could beat them out. Re: Teams most impressive and disappointing this year
next year shouldn't be tough ... all the key freshmen needed was experience in varsity games, and now they have it ... physically, they are the same as Heath Wiseman (Athens), Zacchia Saltzmen (Athens), Justice Jenkins (Trimble) or Mason Chapman (Alexander) ... those young men will be juniors next year and expected to be some of the best athletes/football players in the county ... just because Mount/Andrews/Edwards have the "sophomore tag" should not be relevant - when they are in fact the same age as the players I just mentioned.buckman wrote:Once this freshman class and this year's 8th grade class get to the soph/junior level, we should be back in business, but next year might be another rough one.
