I thought this game would get a little smack talk....
It is still NY and Logan no matter what there records are...

I think this is the closest these two teams have been to each other in several years. This game has the potential to be one of the best games in the area this week.

I think it will come down to Adams getting protection so that he can throw just enough to keep the defense honest.
Bucks take it by, 13.

Re: wk5 Logan (1-3) @ Nelsonville-York (2-2)
Biggest game of the season for the Chieftains.
Logan did some things well last week - even on offense - despite the final statistics. A couple of drives ended on fourth down in the red zone and I really think Nathan Cocks has emerged as one of the best pure pass catchers Logan has had for a while. I thought the offense was better than they were against Teays Valley, but a couple of HUUUGE (in terms of yardage) sacks in the third quarter set Logan back. Those sacks came after Logan was down 2 scores and had to throw to play catch up.
Logan cannot fall behind by multiple scores.
Defensively Logan played excellent considering that the top two tacklers (inside linebackers) did not play against Loudonville. The defense did a great job of taking away Loudonville's outside running game which is what they used all season until Friday night. But with the inside of the defense playing without the two linebackers, they found a weakness up the middle and Weber, Lville's fullback, made hay.
Logan will get one of the linebackers back this week which will help.

This game will be close, the only way I see the Bucks pulling away is if the Chiefs make a couple mistakes that the Bucks are able to capitalize on and they get frustrated, but I don't think that will happen.

Just a quick warning........
The Buchtel cop clocked a River Valley bus going 60 in a 35 last Friday night. He didn't give the bus driver a ticket but I don't look for him to be as forgiving if it happens again.
DRIVE THE SPEED LIMIT ON YOUR WAY THROUGH OUR LITTLE VILLAGE.
We want you to spend your money at our concession stands not Tue Buchtel Mayors office.

You can park in the parking lot or up in the grass.

Im hoping the buckeyes can pull off another win this week... The only thing im worried about is if Logan has any passing game we may be in trouble... We have one very weak side... Hopefully our boys hold it together and dont get alot of penalties... and it would be great to see our special teams make some tremendous plays.... good, injury free game to all... Go Buckeyes

Re: wk5 Logan (1-3) @ Nelsonville-York (2-2)
This is one of the oldest rivalries in southeastern Ohio, dating back to the beginning of organized high school sports. Chieftans vs. Buckeyes/Greyhounds. For a brief time, this game was played on Thanksgiving Day several decades in the past. For a brief time, each game was played at neutral-site Haydenville because the two schools hated each other so much that neither would agree to play on the others field.
Logan Locos has the stats for the Greyhounds/Chieftans, which was dominated by Logan. In 55 meetings, the Chiefs won 45, lost 6, and tied 4 with the Greyhounds.
Likewise, Logan has dominated the NY Buckeyes. This will be the 30th all-time meeting since consolidation, and Logan has won 21 and lost 8. No school has had more success versus Nelsonville-York in football than the Logan Chieftans.
Combined, this will be the 85th all-time meeting between Nelsonville and Logan in football with Logan leading the combined series 66 wins, 14 losses and 4 ties.
Having said that, Nelsonville-York can make history Friday night. No Nelsonville team has ever beat Logan 3 years in a row before........Buckeyes or Greyhounds. If NY defeats Logan Friday night, it will be the third win in a row for the Bucks. In the last two meetings, NY has defeated Logan by a combined score of 92-6.
Combined, the Buckeyes/Greyhounds only won 12 games in the first 82 games of this series which sprinkled in 4 ties among those 66 losses. For the Buckeyes to win games 13, 14, and 15 in three straight years would be unprecedented.
The sheer size difference between the schools not withstanding, this has been one of the most anticipated games on the schedule for each team over the years. Logan brings huge crowds to Nelsonville-York for away games and Nelsonville-York brings huge crowds to Logan for away games.

Be careful what you ask for. You may wish you didn't get the points if you finish #1 in the region and DeSales finishes #8.RAIDER6309 wrote:I'm guessing nville should win. Athens is rooting for u. Need those points

Re: wk5 Logan (1-3) @ Nelsonville-York (2-2)
Thanks for posting NYBuckeye96. I'll have my full historical data in my weekly media guide, I'll post the link on Friday to LoganFootball.com.
What I find the most interesting is that Logan's most successful coach (Dale Amyx) has easily the worst record against Nelsonville/Nelsonville-York.
Amyx' teams were 7-4 against the Buckeyes during his 20-year stint as HC of the Chiefains (the two teams did not play his first two seasons, '90 and '91 and did not play from '03-'09).
I think it speaks to the strength of the Buckeyes, particularly in the early to mid 1990s and Logan's poor performance on the field from '95-'97 (2-8, 3-7, 4-6).
No doubt in my mind the '94 game ranks as one of the all-time best in terms of the strength of each team. That was probably Amyx' best team prior to the playoff team of 1999.

DeSales? There are more teams to worry about than DeSales!Amarranavajas wrote:Be careful what you ask for. You may wish you didn't get the points if you finish #1 in the region and DeSales finishes #8.RAIDER6309 wrote:I'm guessing nville should win. Athens is rooting for u. Need those points
Dover? Carrollton? Granville? Sheridan? Brookhaven? Logan Elm? Beechcroft? West Holmes?
These are al teams that could finish in the 6, 7 and 8 spots ... the region is stacked - everyone gets a tough match-up in week 11.
Nelsonville-York vs Logan
HA! I would root for anyone vs the Chieftains ... go Bucks!
