Fairland was also without Dionte Braye, their big 6'4" 335 lineman this week after he was ejected from the Fairland-Meigs game and had to sit this week.

With Braye back in this week, the D-line will be much improved. The Dragons probably won't beat Wheelersburg [especially at Wheelersburg], but if Coal Grove can hold them to 39 points, I'm pretty sure Fairland can at the very least do that.

Wheelersburg - 35
Fairland - 21

I know this game is at Wheelersburg, but I was wondering if Fairland has a grass or turf surface? Thanks.

Not much talk about the game. Does anyone know if Howard or Robinson will be back this week?

ok gotta ask where were the officials from. wow! fairland has a really good team, the 2 defensive tackles are a load and a half. hard fought win by the pirates tonite. i was told that robinson probably would not be back till waverly game, possilble northwest but i like our chances without him against northwest so no reason to rush it.

49-32 Wheelersburg was the final. Fairland scored with one second left after the officials put time back on the clock according to the radio guys.

Just a few stats from the radio.

Burg
22 first downs
44 rushes fo 277 yards
22/38 passing for 242 yards
82 plays for 519 total yards

Fairland
18 first downs
44 rushes for 200 yards
30/49 passing for 330 yards
93 plays for 533 total yards

572 combined passing yards for both teams. Looks like Noles Fan got the bonus with a guess of 569 yards. He only miised it by 3 yards. I guessed 432 and wasn't even close and I thought I was a little high. lol

Great win by the Pirates over a very fast Fairland team. Man do they get the ball down the field quickly. Good luck to the Dragons the rest of the season.

Was thinking the same thing about the refs. I don't know how much experience they have but seems to me they don't recall what pass interference is and hitting above the shoulders. Or which way a penalty should be marked off. Burg crowd let them know that one!

Great game by the Pirates. Game could have been a lot closer as Fairland had the ball inside the Burg 20 twice and didn't score.

Probably the worst officiated game I have seen in 35 some years of watching Burg football and Burg was the home team. Fairland had 0, yes ZERO holding calls all night. The only way that happens in HS football is if the refs don't call it. The one thing I didn't understand about those fools is why was it every time there was a timeout the one ref was making the Burg go on the other side of the 25 while the ref on Fairland's side let them hang out around the 20?????

Also, a sideline warning against both teams??? Seriously??? have never heard that called before either.

Oh well, on to Jackson and a fired up Andy and Larry Hall after the thumping the Burg put on them last year and after the thumping they took tonight.

I can't believe Fairland called a TO with three seconds to go just to score another TD. You don't make the playoffs on the amount of points you score. I guess they can beat their chest and say they hung 32 on the Burg's defense. Scary thing is what if there QB gets his leg twisted in the pile and blows his knee out? Would it have been worth the extra 6 points then???

That would be the Braye boys. Solid players and great kids.

This is the second time I've heard of sideline warnings being issued this season. I guess OHSAA is making a crackdown?
Honestly, I had never even heard of it until I got to college.

I gotta disagree on the last TO then TD because had Coach Homolka not done it everyone would be on here saying he should have gone for it.

really nice job by #4 and #10 for Fairland in getting behind the Burg backers for receptions and #10 was killing us early floating thru the defense and getting open. Burg made some good adjustments against the quick outs but #32 made them pay a few times by running up the middle. Burg has played a 4-3 or 4-4 defense the last two weeks against good spread offenses in Ptown and Fairland. I personally don't like it but it did its job, we won! LOL. Braye boys for fairland on the Dline were not driven back all night. They didn't do anything but clog the middle of Burgs Oline but we did enuff to get some good yards. I feel sorry for Burgs #54 who had to block these guys. He got a cpl holding calls on him, but what do u do? 190 lbs vs 300? But the Braye boys were definitely getting tired from middle of third Qtr to the end of the game.
I think the last two weeks will be a great help to the Burg. I think the players playing against this kind of opposition will be huge come SOC time. Fairland will get us a few points the next 6 weeks!!

Yeah, but if the QB gets hurt or anyone else for that matter, would it have been worth it?

Didn't think Fairland and Burg were in the same division. That would be a heck of a playoff matchup
