I'd be lying if I said the combination of a good Jackson team and potential poor weather wasn't making me more than a little nervous.

If the storms come, Jackson will be able to keep it closer.
Storm prediction:
Athens 48
Jackson 26

Heck 93, Jackson fans don't get to be the underdog very often and I think they are having a bit of fun with it.

Good point ... I've been watching area high school football for 25 years now and ATHENS has never been a big favorite over any JACKSON team.

I personally don't think they are a big favorite tonight. I just can't see a Bulldogs squad blowing out a group of Ironmen ... its just too strange to comprehend ...

I'm with you on that one 93, I just can't bring myself to fathom Athens blowing away any Jackson team. I honestly look for a pretty good game tonight.

I think this will be a really good game. One thing Athens has going for them is that they are playing at home although they have also been able to win big games on the road in the past couple of years. I don't know how much weather will play into the game but don't forget Athens has a pretty good running game to go along with the pass. Athens D should be ready for a heavy dose of run from the Ironmen to try and control the clock. Good luck to both teams on an injury free game.

I am not certain how David arrived to the battle field in biblical times, but tonight they will come in yellow school busses from Jackson dressed in red and white to the The Plains battle field to face the #1 team in Region 9, and highly ranked in the AP in DIII, and highly talented, and universally touted mighyt Athens Bulldogs. Best of luck to Jackson, battle like champions, play hard, leave it on the field boys.

If Athens loses this game it will be the confusion on defense that costs them. They have gotten away with it so far, and I think they are enough better than Jackson that it won't matter tonight either. Athens should win by at least 3 touchdowns if weather permits. Anything less and they should be concerned.

Like it or not 93Bulldog the story fits.

Young shepherd boy David = 15, 16, and a very few 17 year old boys varsity football team in Jackson, with a lot of them being driven to practice by their parents because not old enough for their drivers licenses yet (like our starting QB).

Goliath = Athens Bulldogs leading every offensive throwing, rushing, and total yards stat in the TVC undoubtedly. With a defense equally touted. Veteran playoff team with experience in Week 11 and 12.

Are you serious this is David vs. Goliath...the only thing we don't know yet is if the story ends the same...we will know that at 10:00PM +/-

I don't see how Athens has been confused on defense. I think they have played pretty well and have been able to line up against a couple different kinds of offenses. I have seen Jackson play and nothing they do should confuse a defense. Pretty typical Jackson stuff. I think if any week to be less confused this would be the week. If Athens loses its because the offense and the defense do not match Jacksons physicality, in my opinion.

Similar story excepting the ending. Goliath will punish David tonight and pound him into submission. Don't look for anyone from Athens to ever admit that they have any advantage in a game though. Even when the facts state otherwise.

DE - Colby Rogers, DE - Dylan Cochran, WR - Zacchia Saltmen, WR - Heath Wiseman ... all still being picked up from practice by mommy and daddy ... the rest of the starters besides Goldsberry, Freddie Stalder, Sebring and Love just got their drivers license ... we're still the 'young pups' doubleplay643 ...

You can't be Goliath if you're barely old enough to drive ... that's the rule.

Play it down all you want 93, while in reality you know Athens has much more talent than anyone on their schedule. I wonder how many players for Jackson are being recruited by Big 10, and SEC schools? How many Jackson players have 4.5 or better 40 times?

Regan Williams (Jackson) is being tied to D1 schools just as much as Joe Burrow (Athens) ... in fact, Williams has offers on the table from Ohio University and Kent State already.

"Being recruited" and having official offers are two completely different things.

How many Big 10 coaches have visited Jackson this year? And those 40 times?

I would like to see Jackson win this game but I think Athens' offense is too strong. I think Jackson will score a few points but not enough! Good luck to both squads!

Jackson must play physical and aggressive like this group can and if they do we will have a great football game to watch tonight.
