The 7 on 7;s turned out to be only 4 teams with Athens,Belpre,Philo and Sheridan.Each team played each other twice. Belpre defeated Philo twice , beat Athens once and 1 tie (Belpre had 1 int,) and Belpre and Sheridan split.Eaglepapaw wrote:Belpre in 10 team 7 on 7 in Athens on Saturday 7/11

Southern has a football team? I believe chesapeake is holding a 7 on 7 next weds. I Heard them, Tolsia, Fairveiw and not sure on the fourth one. If anybody knows for sure, post it.

Agree, it is good practice for defending the pass and running routes. With that said, Ironton looked good a couple weeks ago at the Raceland 7 on 7. Most people thought we had our whole team there, we were huge and very athletic. We did come home with the victory. Kids looked very good. But again offensively Ironton will be running the ball a lot. This year they will have the ability to open it up if the line can give them enough time. Defensively, I believe only three teams were able to score on Ironton out of 8. Big, tall, strong and quick.55Buckeyes98 wrote:7 on 7 is good practice but means nothing. Many teams don't even run the plays or coverages they will use during the season in these things. They amount to little more than good exercise and the kids having some fun. When you are going to spend the season running the ball down the other teams throat there is no need to practice pass routes and such. And when the other team's QB spends the night on his back does it really matter what kind of pass routes they run? You would be better off teaching your QB how to fall without getting hurt, and how to get up and dust himself off after getting his teeth kicked in.
