August 7, 2015
Memo to Athletic Administrators,
Several updates for you to help answer some questions as we work through reposting enrollment
numbers for the 2015â€16 school year following yesterday’s (Thursday, August 6) decision by the Board of
directors to withdraw community school and STEM school students from enrollment counts and
reconfigure tournament divisional assignments:
ï‚· Enrollment figures currently have been changed to zero for all member schools and the
enrollment numbers on our website have been temporarily removed
ï‚· The breakdown of divisions for all sports both in MyOHSAA and on the public schedules through
our website have been taken down
ï‚· The football region assignments and numbers have been removed
Our staff is working diligently to reconfigure all information as quickly as possible and we hope to have
the updated information posted by the end of next week.

I disagree .EagleFan89 wrote:yuck (and nothing to do with the changes this week)
They are trying to come up with some unattainable formula to level the playing field.
As long as the privates are allowed to skim the cream from the publics there will never be a level playing field..............period
Re: OHSAA to reclassify football divisions...THIS WEEK
Looks like OHSAA's goal for the new enrollment figures and tournament/playoff divisions is set for around August 14th.
Re: OHSAA to reclassify football divisions...THIS WEEK
This may be huge if it pushes enough privates down to push some of SE Ohio's teams who are on the bubble down as well. Should be interesting.

I agree to. OHSAA money would double. Athens vs Tri Valley probably had more people than any game at the shoe. all 5 Desales fans were complaining Athens and Jackson brought too many people. Didn't take Desales long to break out the liquor bottlesBIGHITSINC wrote:Easy fix.............

The problem is the privates need rural publics money to exist

You guys realize that this has been up for vote among the OHSAA membership more than once and the public schools 80+% of the OHSAA membership keep voting this down.

Private schools would be moving up, not down, or staying in the same. Public schools with STEM/community school kids in district could move down. those with none could get bounced up.pmow3 wrote:This may be huge if it pushes enough privates down to push some of SE Ohio's teams who are on the bubble down as well. Looks like Beecroft, Marion Franklin and Zanesville all will be moved to D3 with the numbers released yesterday.doubleplay643 wrote:In Region 9 maybe look for Columbus Beecroft and Marion Franklin to fall from D2 to D3...not sure but a distinct possibility.
Tri-Valley looks to be on the bubble and eaglefan89 has them in D2 based on his projections.
Region 9 going to be very competitive.

I have been saying this for years. It is not such much as private or parochial, as it is SELECTIVE ENROLLMENT. They can SELECT the kids they want and SELECT the number in which is enrolled. You do not have to look any further than St. Ignatius in CLEVELAND, or Mooney in YOUNGSTOWN, two large metropolises that can reach across boundaries to get the best of the best.bman wrote:Columbus City Schools hinted yesterday about potentially suing the OHSAA and that sure changed things. The rural schools should come together and threaten to sue the OHSAA for allowing Africentric to draw students from across the 15th biggest city in the nation, but allows them to compete in Division IV against the small country schools.

Tri-Valley is the smallest D2 team in the state.

I am pretty sure that reference was pointed towards their basketball division, not their football division.Eaglepapaw wrote:According to new Divisions posted on another thread Africentric is assigned to DVll Region 25 not DlVhawkeyepierce wrote:I have been saying this for years. This didn't seem to hurt the Divsions V-VII last year. Public schools won each of those championships.
