West is fine. Been unlucky on the injury front but these young guys have stepped up well. Saw another freshmen step in there and do well at linebacker against Coal Grove. These young guys playing will really pay dividends in the future.
Wellston looks to be big and much improved. Only loss to a really good Jackson team. Should be a good game.

Can we talk football did both teams have a good week of practice

I guess I am little surprized that West is playing so many under classmen considering there are about 16 seniors on the team.Westfan wrote:West is fine. Are the senior out or do they have some good classes coming
Re: WEEK 4: Wellston (2-1) vs. Portsmouth West (1-2)
Very few juniors. Freshmen and sophomore classes are very good.talkfootball19 wrote:Are the senior out or do they have some good classes coming

Heard from a buddy from Jackson County that Wellston has been knocking the snot out of each other this week in practice. He says they'll be ready this week and will win easily. I hope so cause the Buckeyes desperately need the playoff points.talkfootball19 wrote:Can we talk football did both teams have a good week of practice

I believe there's 14 and almost half of them have not had much varsity experience.OSU 77 wrote:I guess I am little surprized that West is playing so many under classmen considering there are about 16 seniors on the team.Westfan wrote:West is fine. Perhaps, and I don't know, the coach at West is making a statement...Produce on the field in practices and games or ride the pine, if in fact the upper classmen are sitting.

14 seniors were on the team against Coal Grove
1 was out for season from Portsmouth game.
12 played in some capacity during the CG game. Most play 1 way. 5 of those 12 have little to no varsity experience before this year.
2 more went out during CG game (1 probably for season)
The problem is few juniors. That's why so many sophomores are playing.
But you are right on the discipline part.

One of the better Wellston teams in recent memory playing "possibly" one of the lesser West teams of recent memory.....
I'm hoping for an SOC II win, but I think the Rockets may take this one.
If West wins they still have a chance to make a strong run. If Wellston wins they gain momentum and West is in real trouble as they get into the SOC II schedule.

I Did not think we would be talking about West having a weak team this year

Take the starting quarterback and tailback off of any D5 team, not to mention half the secondary, and their will be struggles.game day wrote:I Did not think we would be talking about West having a weak team this year

Any word on how West's injured players? I am looking forward to seeing their QB play if he is good to go?Westfan wrote:Take the starting quarterback and tailback off of any D5 team, not to mention half the secondary, and their will be struggles.game day wrote:I Did not think we would be talking about West having a weak team this year

West really needs this one or they could sputter to a 2-8 or 3-7 type season. There is only one "layup" left on the schedule in Fairland.
