Kids who work their behinds off while studying and trying to live their lives. Do yourself a favor and post about the games in an acceptable fashion. If you are over the age of 18 and have posted these things you have tonight, well, I just feel flat out sorry for you. Be a man and grow up. Otherwise, please do not degrade people who are playing/coaching for the love of the game.
Very well said.

Just like you are giving him flack. I bet I know what it is. You have a kid on the team. You think your kids should be getting more playing time. Jackson lost because your kid didn't get more playing time. You are a sorry excuse for a human being. I'm glad we aren't all mouth breathers.Oakie_Dokie wrote:When a COACH GETS ON A LIVE RADIO STATION AND SAYS HIS TEAM IS HORRIBLE AND PATHETIC THATS UNCALLED FOR. Jackson just doesn't have an offense. I just don't think Jackson is on the level of Athens last year or Zanesville, Desales, or Hamilton township this year

It don't matter how good you are you cant beat the Refs, its ridicules Jackson cant get a break , must be SOC refs.
The Pirates outplayed Jackson all night on both sides of the ball and the final stats will prove that. I don't think the refs were doing any blocking or running the ball down Jacksons throat all night.

I agree, Jackson offense is really struggling and has been all season really. Defense is great.RAIDER6309 wrote:Jackson just doesn't have an offense. I just don't think Jackson is on the level of Athens last year or Zanesville this year

Do you actually think that every game you play will be won? Wasn't the best outing it happens. Played a good team for 5th straight week...lost this one. Now we see what we are made of, my guess is more than what some people on here are made of.

Re: Wk 5: Wheelersburg @ Jackson
Jackson lost two three-year starters and another very good lineman from last year's team, not to mention one of the best blockers I have ever seen personally at the high school level (David Shaw of Stanford agrees) that played TE. They have one lineman playing out of position, and aren't very experienced overall up front. I have only watched one game in person, but I have seen the other games online. The offense is struggling because the Ironmen are still working things out up front, in my opinion. Not to mention that they have played several VERY good football teams, one right after the other.
There were several mistakes tonight (Pick Six, Onside kick recovered by Burg to start the 2nd Half, missed opportunity in a goal-to-go situation, fumbled snaps, etc). Those mistakes can't happen against good football teams, and that's why the Ironmen didn't get it done tonight. The fact remains, though, that prior to the loss tonight, Jackson had won 17 straight regular season games. They've had a lot of success over the last few years (two 10-0 seasons, 3 SEOAL titles since Hall came to Jackson, 3 trips to the playoffs including two playoff wins), and this is a very talented group again this year. They just need to keep getting better, eliminate the costly errors, and they'll be fine. Still some tough games left on the schedule, but there's a chance to win an SEOAL championship, and a shot at the playoffs still on the line. It's really tough to go 10-0. It's even harder to do it two years in a row. As was mentioned before, learn from the loss, and move on.

I think Jackson's offense did okay the first 4 games, however it looked to me that the Burg just had a better defense tonight.. Burg offense line also dominated tonight... SOC here will come......

Congratulations to the Pirates on a BIG and well deserved win. You proved me wrong on my assessment. Maybe the Apple festival was a deterrant for the Ironmen because listening to the radio the Pirates were firing on all cylinders!

We have five games to get better to make it hard for those teams to beat us.RAIDER6309 wrote:I feel at least 3 teams in region 9 would beat Jackson pretty easyOakie_Dokie wrote:I agree, Jackson offense is really struggling and has been all season really. Three teams in the TVC Ohio could beat Athens right now as well.
Re: Wk 5: Wheelersburg @ Jackson
Having a ferris wheel on Main Street and Diamond Rio on stage a block and a half north of that didn't have anything to do with Wheelerburg's line dominating.
These great sounding Burg/Jackson match ups have not been great...maybe they should meet in the middle and play.

Re: Wk 5: Wheelersburg @ Jackson
Congratulations to Wheelersburg! Took some risks that paid off big-time tonight.
Extremely impressed again by defense. First-team defense has allowed a total of 13 points in the 5 games this year, an average of 2.6 points per game.
Standing at a Perfect 5-0 with hopes of winning a SOC and a long playoff run toward a D5 Championship!
GREAT JOB PLAYERS AND COACHES!!!

True.. I just mentioned the festival as a possibility. But I hope Jackson can turn it around next week and get back on track.

Re: Wk 5: Wheelersburg @ Jackson
First off, congrats to the Pirates. Was glad I made the trek to the Apple Festival and then took in the game, even in the rain. Thought I read on here where Coach Woodward had made the comment about this being the fastest team he has had since he has been the head coach and I think it showed tonight, especially on defense. I think Jackson took to heart everything that was being said on here and thought this would be a cake walk for them. They found out differently. Burg took it to them all night. The o-line made some nice holes for the runners and that play to start the 2nd half after they recovered the onside kick to start the 2nd half, the long pass play to Darnell was very nice. Caught Jackson totally off guard.
As for ontheriver, everyone needs to quit responding back to him because it is obvious he is a child. If he seriously thinks the refs took this game from Jackson he is a fool. I believe Jackson had ZERO penalties on the night and the Burg had 2 or 3. The refs let them play, especially the Jackson o-line. Since when is it legal to tackle a defensive player that is rushing in? I lost count how many times that happened tonight with no call.
As for what Coach Hall said on the radio, I heard it and didn't think anything of it. He did say they came out flat and they did and I think that was a bit of cockiness from reading all the BS on here all week. Last time I checked they don't play the game on an internet blog site. I think it is still played on the field.
As for the field, it looked to me like it is due to be replaced. Lot of slipping going on tonight that cost both teams at times. Turf looks really worn down. See a lot of black showing through in places. Still the finest facility in the region with the seating, parking and overall hospitality.
