Vass is still teaching PE. Salmons will be an intervention specialist so Vass is still teaching. Let’s all get behind the new coach and the kids that want to be at Ironton. I’m excited for this hire and that he has no ties to Ironton. Good move Ironton BOE and let’s not stop with just this change.

So now that you have a new coach will things change for Ironton as far as some disgruntled fans hanging over the banisters yelling you suck at the players as they are coming off the field after a loss? well we hain't anymore informed than we were yesterday it sounds like. if you hire a guy that says he has to ask his wife n kids, and his buddies at the eagles n tells ya he'll get back with you. and has done this to other programs then backed out. it sounds like that word clint eastwood used in heartbreak ridge. for the record, I liked the sounds of Pendleton n triplett.

Why in the he11 would you offer a position to someone that might still not take it? Is this a real thing?

If this is true he turned the job down this looks bad all the way around. Salmons should have never applied for the job if he wasn't going to take it, it appears to be a game to him to see how many schools he can interview at and a waste of time for which ever school is interviewing him for their open position. It also looks bad on the Ironton school board hiring a coach who it seems essentially has turned the job down the very next morning after being hired. If I'm the board at Ironton I call for a special meeting tomorrow and then call my second choice whether it be Pendleton, Ray, or whoever to see if they still want the job and hire them. If they draw this out any further it makes them appear to be more and more incompetent in this situation, especially with them being months behind already in the weight room and the new coach being there to talk to kids and find out about them. If this is true he turned it down and the process is drawn out longer than a week get ready for the train wreck to get worse and surrounding schools of Ironton should be ready for players to head their way.

His coaching salary is prolly restricted by the state but I’m sure he is going to an athletic booster at Cabel and telling them he’s leaving and they come up with some more money for him why else would you interview so often and never take the jobs? Truthful look is that Ironton caught a break he would have never lasted in this town pulling such power plays oh wait a minute he might have fit right in it appears!!!
