Re: Gallia Academy Football 2018 thoughts
Gallia returns star RB/LB Jacob Campbell, one of the best QBs in the OVC, a very talented WR core, and a more experienced O-Line. On defense going to be outsized 9/10 but have speed and that showed at times last year. I look for 7-3 at least to maybe even 10-0 if they play the cards right and stay healthy.

I have Gallia winning the OVC outright this season.Abe Froman wrote: ↑Tue May 01, 2018 10:21 pm Is an OVC title in the cards this year for the Blue Devils?

Depends on how off-season recruiting goes. Worked well for them last year. They were a 2 win team without Campbell last season.OVC wrote: ↑Wed May 02, 2018 6:44 amI have Gallia winning the OVC outright this season.Abe Froman wrote: ↑Tue May 01, 2018 10:21 pm Is an OVC title in the cards this year for the Blue Devils?

I wish Athens played Gallia!
I miss the old french city and Memorial Stadium. Plus, I love beating Penrod, an old Logan grad! haha

This is yhe dumbest statement I've seen on here or a while. You are a jackass. They won more than two games without him if you accumulate the time he missed.Edmond Dantes wrote: ↑Wed May 02, 2018 7:50 amDepends on how off-season recruiting goes. Worked well for them last year. Re: Gallia Academy Football 2018 thoughts
They don’t beat Portsmouth or Chesapeake without him.
If he was still at River Valley, they probably don’t beat them either.
So that’s South Point, who everyone beat, and an injury-riddled Ironton.

As I said, this is really, really stupid. RV got beat up upfront that game. Literally every time any back would have had the ball, they would've gotten hit in the backfield. They completely dominated Chesapeake. Maybe I'll give you Portsmouth could've turned out differently as it was a failed conversion from being different anyway. But guess what, kids can go to school where they choose to and he lives in district anyway, so stop being a whiny little hater.Edmond Dantes wrote: ↑Wed May 02, 2018 10:16 am They don’t beat Portsmouth or Chesapeake without him.

Obviously the OHSAA read the report and found nothing actionable in it.Edmond Dantes wrote: ↑Wed May 02, 2018 11:02 am
But I also read a copy of the report filed to the OHSAA. I know there are two sides to every coin.... but shady pool.
And that’s all I have to say about that.
Like you said, two sides....
One of the coaches is still in charge. One isn't.
Hope the sour grapes aren't too bitter.

No grapes involved for this old-timer. My opinions are only of value to myself.

I seriously doubt coach Penrod was "recruiting" anyone..BlizzardMan wrote: ↑Wed May 02, 2018 9:54 amThis is yhe dumbest statement I've seen on here or a while. You are a jackass. O&B, that is just someone upset that a couple kids left the county schools and are now at the city schools. Did they have to sit out? From what I have read on other topics, they were legitimate move-ins or going to their residential district when enrolling at the city schools. Anywho, it is just another crap stirrer that wants to get a rise out of someone.

"Recruiting" is such an ugly word...
Regardless, I think it would be pretty silly to argue that Campbell didn't make a very significant impact upon the GAHS program upon arrival.
Good luck to the kid.
Intense, emotional kid, but I never had any problems with him in the limited contact I had with him while he was at RV.

Kid is a stud. I didn't say he didn't make a significant impact.madpolecat wrote: ↑Wed May 02, 2018 2:12 pm "Recruiting" is such an ugly word...

Mad he didn't recruit little Johnny I suspect.Edmond Dantes wrote: ↑Wed May 02, 2018 7:50 amDepends on how off-season recruiting goes. Worked well for them last year. Re: Gallia Academy Football 2018 thoughts
Here is the problem with the recruiting part of that statement. One of those 2 kids was in the weight room after school before penrod was even hired.
The funny thing is maybe more schools should run there spring and summer lifting the way they do. It is basically a open gym. You can go in and find cheerleaders lifting. Volleyball players and a ton of kds from other schools. I mean they got i think 3 new kids last year if you count some of the kids that lifted over the summer i thought they might have as many as seven kids if you count the meigs kids and fairland kids that were there a lot.
And i dont want that to sound strange i am out bt river valley a lot and have nephew that plays basketball there as a frshmen this past year. I was at a couple of there open gyms that there weee almost as many rebels and blue devils there as raiders. That is also how the rumor got atarted about loveday to oak hill. He was at that open gym a lot... thus the rumor started.

svac83. Can you verify this happened? I find that hard to believe that girls would be lifting with the football team. Seems like a distraction to me.

Re: Gallia Academy Football 2018 thoughts
We have girls in our weight room all the time. Weather the football team is there or not.
It's only a distraction if your kids aren't focused.
Dear God, do you want to segregate the weight room?
