2018 Waverly Tigers Football Outlook
Coming off back to back playoff appearances, I am curious to see what Waverly will be able to put on the field this coming season. The Tigers will have many key players to replace, but have the potential to have another good season. Thoughts?

Once again the most and biggest holes will be on defense. They lost almost the whole linebacker core and both DE. The O-line and WRs should be good once again, questions on O will be the QB and RB. Replacing Howell and Kritzwiser will take work. I think they have the potential to do it again. A lot of good talent moving up, but will they be ready to play Varsity?

Good analysis. Waverly football seems to be in a boom / bust cycle over the years based on having a great quarterback. I am very curious if Waverly can reload.OldTiger wrote: Tue May 15, 2018 7:43 pm Once again the most and biggest holes will be on defense. They lost almost the whole linebacker core and both DE. Numbers and depth could be the key.. Waverly will have some great talented athletes, can’t have kids walking the hallways. Is this the year Waverly sees 50+ kids suit it up?

Waverly lost Kritzwiser but they do have Booker returning from injury, not sure how he's looking so far. They still have talent at the WR spot so that will help them break the new QB in, with sophomore Shanks. He's got a big arm but not the most nimble of feet. I can see Waverly going to the quicker passing game even more so this year with this being his first year at the helm. Replacing the o-line is going to be key to it all, you don't want first year QB under pressure all game. Defense sounds as if they're going to play fast fast fast, we'll see how that translates when teams try and run it right at them. However, going into 2018 season I think Waverly has a lot of questions to answer and that will only happen with time as the season moves on. Replacing some key figures across the fronts and replacing Howell and Kritzwiser leaves waverly with some really big shoes to fill. Will waverly reload or rebuild??

That will be the big thing is the production lost on offense defense and even special teams, the younger players that saw playing time last season saw and experienced what it was like to be successful, so hopefully they continue to improve before wk1 against Piketon

2 teams that are both replacing a lot of talent. By week 5 they'll both really be settling in.Orange and Brown wrote: Sat May 26, 2018 12:28 pm Can't wait til the Buckeyes make the trip over to your place week 5.

Saw Brooker run a 4.4 40 the other day. I’d say his knee is all healed up. Now can it take hits week in and week out.

I’ve heard that Waverly’s next year sophomores and freshman work well together and what kids stick out to make an impact out of these two groups?
Re: 2018 Waverly Tigers Football Outlook
2-3 incoming sophomores started last year as freshman and a couple incoming freshmen may have just too much talent not to see the field.
Add them to the returning starters and this could be an exciting year for the Tigers.
I think the only unproven position will be QB simply because we had a three starter in Howell.
Shanks will clearly be in the lead for the QB spot with his big frame and strong arm. He also has a head start on the system.
Tigers will be very strong at the WR position and returns some very good speed at the RB position.

I think the experienced recievers and backs will need to help the Tigers young QB.
The lines are always a question mark can the O-line pass protect and/or run block and can the D-line get after the opposing QB.
A lot of young kids saw the field last year on Friday nights let's hope they can fill the holes left by a very talneted group of seniors.
64 days to kickoff!
