Agreed that other improvements are needed, but the field color is not one of them.
I mean, the game was “meant” to be played without using hands, with no forward pass, and with no protective gear but those things evolved and people got used to it.
Unfortunately for the “That’s the way it has always been” crowd, changes like this will continue. Eventually, it will be abnormal to have a grass field and everyone will team-brand their turf.

Championship's are won in the off-season

I have to agree, at least it should be green. The blue end zones are nice. The whole facility is looking better. Hopefully, Marietta City Schools will spring for some newer visitor bleachers in the near future since more high schools bring visitors vs the college crowds.GalliaGrad78 wrote: Thu Jul 26, 2018 8:25 am Football is meant to played on a grass field, but if not the turf should at least be green. Best of luck to the Pios this year.

The contrasting gray colors are similar to what Harrison Central did to its field a couple years ago. Looks awesome.
about playoff games
Parkersburg was thinking about RED turf, with a White Endzone
the last time we redid ours about 10 years ago,
currently putting in another new turf, with a White Endzone
but was told by the WVSSAC under NFHS Rules a field must be Green with a White Goal line to host a Playoff Game
so we quickly went with Green
Re: New Field Turf @ Marietta College
I will say this Don Drumm's new turf looks really sweet up close
stopped by there Saturday afternoon while in Marietta going to Zides
I wonder what kind of glare will come off it during a very Saturday game
couldn't really tell today cause it was partly cloudy when I was there
One thing that did make Parkersburg Catholic a little pissed off
PC and Marietta had a contract for PC to play Ritchie County at The Don on Friday 8/31,
but Marietta broke the contract Friday saying They(Marietta College) want to be the first team to play on the turf on Saturday 9/1
Wonder if Marietta High has a home scrimmage on the turf

It is nice I was there today for my little ones baseball game and I took him out on it. The color will be different but the memories will be incredible, especially if they are able to make it hell on people who come there like Boise State does.
