Just curious what the average salary for a high school football coach is.

3-10K maybe?

Each district is different but typically it is a percentage of the “base pay”, which is the starting salary for a year 1 teacher with just a bachelors degree.

Example:
Base pay is $36,000
Head Football Stipend 18%
=$6480 Coach Pay

Then they typically have another stipend or two for “Conditioning” or “Camps”.

Also depends on the number of years as a paid coach. Longer you've been paid the more you can work your way up the scale a bit so to speak. These small schools are going to pay differently compared to the larger schools. I'm guessing when someone is saying head coach at Logan gets paid 37K they are including teacher salary. Because I don't believe there's a high school coach getting paid 37K just for coaching, at least in this area, if that was the case Logan would be a highly sought after job.

It's usually a percentage of the teachers base pay plus a smaller percentage for every year they have coached added on.
So
Say 16% of base pay plus 5% of base pay for every year coached.

Rush Propst notably the former Hoover High School football coach from the MTV show 2 a days is now coaching in Georgia is making 130,000 plus to just coach football. He’s not the only one. There are quite a few in Georgia that get paid 100k or more to coach.
