Green Bobcats 2019
They come in with high expectations. Do they really only have 14 players or someone trolling.

Yes they only have 14 players, a grandparent of a player told me that.
Their 1,000 yard rusher from last season was the first one to quit. They
started out with 22 kids, 8 have quit.

Only 14?
Will they even make it through the season?
Good Luck.
OK. Why did all of the players quit?

Re: Green Bobcats 2019
That’s sad to hear. I was hoping after last season they would be moving in the right direction. I seen a post on another thread asking this question. I can’t imagine the ohsaa penalizing them but then again we are taking about the ohsaa. But if green was to completely drop their program can the players transfer w/o having to sit outMavrick2016 wrote: Wed Aug 14, 2019 6:30 pm Yes they only have 14 players, a grandparent of a player told me that.

Re: Green Bobcats 2019
I talked to one of the coaches and was told 18. That was a few days ago so it could be 14 now. If that’s the actual number I don’t expect a full season and that’s heartbreaking.

I dont know. I saw their team pic and they had 20. With 8 seniors. Not sure if any dropped since that pic but Ted is a great coach. He will work it out.
Re: Green Bobcats 2019
Just heard that the 1,000 yard rusher Alec Smith was at practice today and is playing. It won’t be just him though. The Bobcats are a hard working bunch and there is still a lot of talent on the team. This will still be an exciting year for Bobcat Football!

Wonder why they waited until a week before the season started? Maybe they were hurt and back.

Re: Green Bobcats 2019
Geez, it’s one thing to have 30 players that have a summer’s worth of preparation but it’s another if 10-12 of them all of the sudden decided to play with the balance of 10 days before the first game. Guess it shouldn’t be an issue though since their non-league schedule guarantees them a 4-0 start given how horrid the competition is.
Re: Green Bobcats 2019
This is the reality of small schools that simply don't have the numbers. These players can come out very late like this knowing that the coach needs them and they'll be playing the same amount as they were if they went through all of the hard stuff. Now there's certain rules each school has to follow in terms of conditioning, days in a helmet, days in pads before contact, etc, if these are followed properly it should take a player 2-3 weeks to be fully ready. Glad to see Green got the numbers they needed, however following off of last seasons success it's a shame players choose the shortcut to a season instead of coming in and really trying to improve and make the team even better going forward, to those that have been there the entire time hats off.Beergogglebluez wrote: Tue Aug 20, 2019 9:23 pm Wonder why they waited until a week before the season started? Same. 14 to 30 though? Hats off to the staff on getting the kids out and continuing to build the program.

Re: Green Bobcats 2019
From what I understand a group of seniors went around from house to house getting these other guys fired up and interested in playing. That is a group of seniors that has already shown great leadership and that are willing to do what it takes to win.

Great to hear. No reason why Green should be struggling with numbers after the season they had last year and all the underclassmen that were returning.*
