Totally agree, but running a counter on 3rd and 1 is a much more acceptable and forgivable mistake then faking a punt inside the opposite 50 and leading the game with an onside kick/squibbing with 6 minutes left. In fact, I don’t think I’ll ever challenge or disagree with an offensive or defensive play call these coaches make as they’ve studied the film and know their players more than anyone, so who am I to challenge those calls. But those kicking decisions were so obviously dumb that they have to be mentioned LOLwobycat wrote: Sat Sep 14, 2019 12:51 am It’s easy to coach from the stands, especially after the game or play is done. Heck I do it. I was mad that they ran a counter on 3 and 1. That’s a slow developing play for that yardage but then I totally wouldn’t have ran Makaya on a wildcat sweep. So go figure. Lol. Burg coaches always work hard to get the best out of their team. Not everything will work but most of the time it does.

I agree with the coaches play calling as 58-6 shows they’re good at it but the special teams calling is questionable. I never have seen a burg team afraid to kickoff to anybody. Did they see something on film be be afraid to kickoff to the tomcats? The young man kicked off once and put it 5 yards in the end zone.TruthBeTold wrote: Sat Sep 14, 2019 12:57 amTotally agree, but running a counter on 3rd and 1 is a much more acceptable and forgivable mistake then faking a punt inside the opposite 50 and leading the game with an onside kick/squibbing with 6 minutes left. I agree with that!! That young man has ice in his veins! Line up and kicked that 45 yarder with the house coming at him and getting roughing the kicker. Wow! He is burg fans hero and only a SophomoreLucasDavenport wrote: Sat Sep 14, 2019 1:02 am Either way... Sammons better eat free in town this week!

But very close predion so it wasn't to far out on the limb to make it.
This game surprised me , but then Ashland is not what they usually are just like Burg so it makes sense

The Pirate’s offense found their identity tonight. Having Mathews back helped...ALOT. They had a rhythm going out there. Much like the 2010 team game three seems to have been the game they put things together. There’s been a lot of talk on here about the special teams calls the coaches made. I understand the calls early on in the game completely. This team needed something to give them some confidence after the first two games. Now however I think you’ll see them use their kickers as the weapons they are and kick deep a majority of the time. Great high school football game!
Go Burg!

Really!! Since Burg beat them now it’s because Ashland is down, not like they used to be!!
What the hell does that even mean? Ashland looked pretty strong. Don’t be surprised that
they don’t give Ironton a game when they play them.
As far as the kicking at least kick it to about the 30 where they had no one. The onside kicks will have to be kicked to perfection. Not sure this young kicker has that down yet. The best ones in the past have been when the kicker kicks it straight and he follows it and jumps on it himself.

Funny. No Xand072 sighting yet.
I’m sure his next post will be Burg will start out the season 1-3. Greenup is far more superior that Ashland. Ashland was down.

The guy really wasn't that far off. One play the other way, and Burg is 0-3 right now.
Congrats on the big win, though. Sounds like a lot of good games were played last night.

No wonder there was so many missed calls. I’ve seen some bad crews but wk one and wk three was horribleLucasDavenport wrote: Fri Sep 13, 2019 11:49 pmSame crew that did Burg v Ironton Week 1.Tjhtygeverve wrote: Fri Sep 13, 2019 11:10 pm Congrats! Was crazy to be tuning off Ironton game on FB & see Burg game restarting after lightning delay.
The looked evenly matched. Lots of flags that looked petty, but I was watching on iPhone plus screen, so I’ll go with the stripes who were there who kept the game from ending at regulation.
I didn’t care who won, just stating what it looked like from a neutral fan.
ashland players/coaches/fans have to be gutted while Burg’s are elated and needed the OT to get the W!
Hopefully a ReMatch!!!
KEEP WINNING!!!
