I like GHS in this one. As usual win one early as few in SEO are going very far in the playoffs.

This may be the best game in SEO this weekend. Nod goes to the home team in a close one.

I’m with you I think this will be one of the most evenly matched games in this area

svac83 wrote: Sun Nov 03, 2019 11:51 am I love my blue devils but Saturday may be a long night for them. I really don’t know much about waverly so a lot of this is a guess.

What I would say about Gallia academy team is offensively and defensively they need to go to there base. We proved against ironton what happens. When we try to change things too much.

Gallia academy knew they were going to have problems blocking a few ironton defenders using there base scheme. So they changed the scheme and this lead to missed assignments all night. It is not hard to shut down a offense. When the offense is leaving a guy at point of attack almost unblocked.

I am not saying they would of beat ironton if they had played straight up. I am saying I think we would of had less 3 and outs and not have given up quite as many points.

Defensively. The blue devils have proved the last two weeks. That they can’t play man in defense back field. Well they can but not with what would be your 3 best DB’s not playing.

Blue devils will have to play there best to even be in this ball game. I think the players playing for the injured guys not quite up to the task and this game is like 54-24 waverly.

I will be there rooting for blue devils that I am wrong. But think this is waverlys game to lose.

Why not just take the short version and say “It’s the kids fault when Gallia loses and Penrod and staff are nothing short of genius when they win.”

Fact - Gallia misses McClellan and Penrod doesn’t have a leader to replace him. This team lacks that leadership quality.

Waverly 38
Gallipolis - 26
no i am not saying that at all. I am saying we went through 5 years before penrod came. that a lot of weeks we did not have talent but we did not have a game plan that would of allowed us to win anyway. Look we know in high school football a lot of times it comes down to the johnies and the joes not the x's and o's.

But sometimes a coaching staff puts kids in best position to defend or defeat certain teams and sometimes they do nothing and hope to out athlete the other team. And sometimes coaches and players do there best and they are not the best. Gallia academy misses mcellend very much, but if you think he was the leader that held that team together i am not sure you knew that team very well. There were other seniors on that team that were much better leaders.

They miss mcellend because they run a offense that is based on the QB really being a threat in the running game and they have a QB who is no threat in a running game. they also miss the calmness that comes with 30 starts as Qb in your career.

I saw Armstrong over the weekend, he didn't seem to think the coaches were going to let him play. Said he wants to and thinks he can, but the coaches aren't going to put him at risk to get hurt worse.

Pretty big deal when coaches put a kids health above putting your team in the best position to win. We typically see it go the other way.

Yeah that’s tough for the devils. I still think they have the players to make it a game but waverly could be a little too much

I'll take Waverly in this one. IMO the OVC is pretty weak besides Ironton. Playing a strong schedule really pays off come playoff time not saying it pays off all the time but a tough schedule better prepares a team for the playoffs and being in the OVC isn't helping. Also not saying the OVC is always weak but recently it has been. Waverly by atleast 2 scores.

4 playoff teams last year, 3 this year...not too bad for a weak conference.
