He did it! What a great journey! He remembers where he came from (suck it Ames, Iowa)! We all knew he was special! I remember the thread after his first varsity start in which he lost (only time in the regular season) to a very good Gallia Academy team. I remember the comments a lot how impressive he was for a sophomore. Tonight, Joe validated what we knew all along and made southeastern Ohio proud! Thank you Joe!

For all of us <40 poster-heads lurking, 2014 Joe Burrow was the Madden 04 Michael Vick unloaded. At high school level. It wasn’t just the speed in out-of-pocket drive toward the sticks, it wasn’t just the laser-vision to deliver the play under great duress, and it wasn’t the clutch factor found on the backs of local quarterback greats where the postseason destiny would’ve amounted to D2 caliber performance at best. NO, it was the sum total of all strengths part and parcel to a college football sensation right before our eyes. A generational talent, if you will.

Where were you...? One frigid November night in Logan against state powerhouse Columbus DeSales, where Joe Burrow had the Heisman performance against a flight of at least 7,000 fans?!

I agree! It was a touching tribute to his home roots in discussing Southeast Ohio, Athens County and Athens in his speech. While he wore the green and gold of Athens, I think we can all say that we are proud he is our boy from Southeastern Ohio.

I wish Athens would get a replica Heisman to display. Lol
