Burg 2020

Post by laser breath »

Coming from a down year at 8-4, winning conference and winning home playoff win, Burg will start going back to the top. I guess after going to like 5 regionals in a row and winning state, it was about time for a down year. Won’t last long.

I see burg winning a bunch more games next year and continue that fourth in the state winning streak.

With what they have returning. JV and freshman making the leap to varsity and what’s in the junior high program the future is VERY bright. If u was gonna beat the burg this past season was it.

I look for a very interesting game week one with ironton and a possible rematch in week 13. 9-1 to 10-0

So you're saying Wheelersburg, which looses basically the whole offensive line, Ruby, Horsely, and Mathews will be better next year than they were this year?

I was told the JV team outscored opponents 347-48 so the infusion of youth will be in the burgs favor. Hard to replace some of those guys but Wheelersburg does not rebuild they reload.

Most local teams didn’t have normal Sophomore/Junior JV teams last year because of low numbers, they had freshmen teams playing as JV teams. And with the case of Valley and West, some of their better freshman played varsity. Wheelersburg has better numbers so they have an actual JV team. Not saying they weren't a good team, but those numbers are highly skewed.

Put me in the camp of believing they will be overall better. That is if they can put a decent line together. I was a little disappointed on line production this past year. Thought it would be better. Obviously they won’t have the explosive athlete in Matthews but they will have a solid group.

I hope for the very same as far as success for the pirates, unless you are playing ironton. ironton and burg being on their games is great for the ovc/soc and all of southern ohio. :D

2020 schedule (from the other thread)

WHEELERSBURG
8/28/2020 H Ironton
9/4/2020 A Chillicothe
9/11/2020 A Ashland Blazer
9/18/2020 H Greenup County
9/25/2020 H Jackson
10/2/2020 H Minford
10/9/2020 H Oak Hill, OH
10/16/2020 A Waverly
10/23/2020 H Lucasville Valley
10/30/2020 A Portsmouth West

Glad to see Hartley off the schedule, they were too much for where the Burg is right now (even Watterson might have been too much for the Burg right now). All the games are winnable, with Ironton, Jackson, and Ashland being the biggest challenges.

Hartley off the schedule helps. Chillicothe is not nearly as good. Burg replaces a lot but they will be good.

Well you won one in 1989 and nothing until 2017, so should one wait 28 more years or what?? Coldwater got moved down is what helped 2017.

Burg is just on another level. When we get there. We win.

I'll give you that when you get there every 30 years you've gotten a win.

I’ll take a win every 30 years. Lol. Even though I’m getting up there in age now.
