Covid "forfeits" in the playoffs

Post by teach1coach2 »

Round 1 of playoffs saw some teams advance without playing due to covid.

Notre Dame could not play Conotton Valley. Conotton Valley advanced.

Mt. Gilead could not play Buckeye Trail. Buckeye Trail advanced.

Champion could not play Crestwood. Crestwood advanced.

Who am I forgetting?

Round 2 so far.
Indian Valley cannot play Bloom Carroll. Bloom Carroll advances. WTUZ reports that a player from Indian Creek tested positive and since Indian Valley played them last weekend in round 1 of the playoffs, Indian Valley has to quarantine as a team.

Troy cannot play Edgewood. Edgewood advances.

Any others?

What is Fairlands status this week, decided yet ?

Cancellations should not count as "playoff" wins by the team moving on. (These need *'s for sure)

I'm pretty sure it is just counts like a bye. No one gets a win or a loss.

It is what it is. Not good but everyone in same boat. I just hope teams and players don’t keep it hidden for fear of not playing. Even though I disagree with the quarantine, In the end, it’s just a game. I’m thankful they got a season in.

What it comes down to is 1) staying vigilant and 2) staying honest about possible COVID exposure, for all students. Can’t think of a reason why parents are sending their kids to school if they were told NOT to by the health department until they clear COVID negative, or if the parents were told by the health department they were identified via contact tracing as being in close contact with a confirmed COVID carrier. I’m told the Amanda and Circleville situation earlier this year was “the toothpaste was out of the tube” for this reason.

If contact tracing discovers a person was in contact with a covid positive person within the 48 hours before the person got sick (or obviously while they were sick), the sheriff's office will deliver quarantine papers that states when you can end quarantine. If you leave quarantine early you can go to jail. A player of mine this summer was a part of a whole family quarantine. I have been contacted by the health department twice for my own children. One was in a church youth group that had a positive case and one sat beside my child in school. In both cases, my child was absent the day of exposure and did not have to quarantine. At best someone was watching over them, at worst they were very luck because they rarely miss school or youth group.

A win is a win. Been a lot of schools get slaughtered by a team but used an eligible player so they actually won the game

There were a couple Fairfield Christian parents that tried to flex up the “1-0” win with me, and that lasted all of 15 seconds before I reminded them the reason why they lost 64-14 wasn’t because of our long snapper having an issue with a summer school credit.

Thank you for this. Thought my source was giving me the full-story on what happens in these situations. They, and I, were wrong evidently!
