That’s awesome...I didn’t even know they had started practicing yet!

They haven’t. They are still in conditioning. Camp starts this week. Burg is going to be “small” but very fast on the defensive side. I think that’s going to be their strength.

Offensively they will probably try to get to the edges with their speed. Line play will be “undersized but athletic” I think their line will be good with the system the offensive coordinator uses.

Significant losses in Skill and in the trenches. Questions at quarterback and lack of size. Loss of their most physical returning player to transfer.

Wheelersburg is well coached. But football is 75% about the Jimmy’s and Joe’s. And Ole Jim and Joe don’t look like the last 10 years

They will still be competitive, but he next 2 to 3 years will be rough at times by their standards imo

I seriously doubt that. But honestly I don’t know what’s considered rough times.

You’re going to be shocked. Just not in the way you think.

Wheelersburg has a very tough first 5 games , but you may be right , they might plow through em all. We’ll see soon.

I wouldn’t say they could plow through them but they have some pieces that will make them dangerous. They have things they need to figure out. They aren’t as set as ironton. Ironton should be favored in the first one because they have more pieces in place but I think the Pirates will be in the game and will have a chance if they can iron out the things they need to iron out. The next four will be based on how well they fare in first game. Burg coaches have a knack for figuring that out so I’m confident they will be ready by week 1. More confident than I was last year.

Rough times at Wheelersburg would be 4 or 5 losses which is possible this year. They have a lot more questions than answers going into the season and a tough schedule

I'm curious about what all questions are to be answered this year compared to last year?? I personally thought last year was really going to be a year of searching for Burg and many more questions going into last season compared to this year. Now obviously this year compared to last the schedule is going to be much tougher pretty much works that way when you only play 1 out of conference game or some teams didn't play any. I mean maybe some have much more information that I do but in terms of game play and style I think last season was much more up in the air compared to this year. I just look for them to build off the direction they were going and continue from there where last season they sort of had to search it out for different reasons.

Exactly, I thought last year was more so a questions year, whereas this year it’ll be seeing how they do with names such as Caleb Arthur, the Lattimore Brothers, Eli Swords, Carson Williams, Josh Clark, and Braxton Sammons. the pieces are there, just need to make up for the lack of size

I’m not saying they are gonna be bad. This time last year you had those players, 4 returning linemen, a movein quarterback with 2 years of varsity starts in a similar offense, and the return of Miller who was a good player.

Last few years there was always one perimeter player that you had to bracket and a quarterback who was a threat all the time. Not to mention enough depth in the skill positions that guys were fresh all the time.

What "system" does the OC use?

There are going to be a lot of people very surprised this year. I mean VERY surprised. I heard last week's strength testing raised some eyebrows. Lack of Jimmie's and Joe's not an issue...

It's always good to have at least one "Jimmy" on the team. And if you throw in a few "Joe's" that can help immensely.
