Due to chance of rain and how things have went in past years I would guess Portsmouth will prepare for rain and are more than capable of developing a rushing attack with the athletes they have. This might actually end up working out in the Trojans favor for the season so they dont end up so pass heavy. Possibly another reason this game will be BIG for PHS going forward in the season.

Is it true Gallia has only a handful of players
Re: Week 5 : Portsmouth 4-0, 1-0 @ Gallia Academy 2-1, 0-0
I think Portsmouth will keep the momentum going and get the win
Re: Week 5 : Portsmouth 4-0, 1-0 @ Gallia Academy 2-1, 0-0
I fear we aren’t winning the game this year. Hopefully our defense is stout and creates turnovers to help the offense out. Has potential to be a great game. Fingers crossed.

Keep it up Portsmouth. Coach Kalb is doing a great job with this program and getting it back to where it should be. Great to see.*

Gallipolis will definitely be playing short handed. Love the fact that we are being counted out this game. Please don’t base anything on the play from last week. The officials had a major part in determining the outcome.

Think its more of gaining confidence in Portsmouth mixed with low numbers for Gallia, but dont think anyone is counting them out. You guys always field athletes. My prediction is a close game first half, Trojans extend lead to 2 scores going into 4th as Gallia starts to wear down due to low numbers.

Just a thought but maybe Portsmouth should practice on real grass this week like the track are or ask notre dame to use the field. Anything to help with Friday

If it doesn’t rain too much the winner of this game will probably have 42 points. Don’t let Gallia academy’s number of players fool you. Most teams only really play about 20 kids until you see a drop off in the kids that come in. That is why if Gallia is healthy the numbers won’t really matter.
Gallia is used to spending a lot of time on defense there average scoring drive is like 5 or 6 plays.
That is why they need a running game they couldn’t run against point but passed for almost 300 yards or just over 300. If they can just run between the tackles a little bit get 2 or 3 yards a pop. Those 5 or 6 play drives turn into 8 or 9 play drives. That will lead to one or two less possessions in a game.
If weather isn’t a factor I think this game is like 42-28. I don’t know who wins but think winning team has over 40 if weather not a factor.
Something about Portsmouth brings out the old SEOAL. I Ben when Gallia is not a physical team this is maybe the most physical game we play. I think it was because before Portsmouth got the coach they had now. They had a lot of kids who did not like physical play and you hit them in the mouth and after that you had their way with them.
They aren’t that way anymore you hit them in the mouth and they are ready to hit you in the mouth and keep going.
Gallia will play with a spy on QB I do believe. And if Portsmouth receivers aren’t super tall they ought to ge able to cover ok.
The big thing will be is will Portsmouth take the point pleasant game plan. And just go to a power close lineman and jam them it down our throats.
I don’t think I have any idea if Gallia is any good or not yet. All 3 games have been so different it is hard to put a finger on it.

I don't think GA has the size to hang here. Although, I hear the Trojans like to sling the rock. They may have the speed to keep up, if Portsmouth doesn't line up and punch 'em in the mouth.
Go getchu' one Devils. I don't think many of us like you in this match-up... Prove us wrong!

It's honestly hard to tell about anyone this year. We haven't beaten anyone who looks great but with all the quarantines , traditional injuries and cancelations / last minute rescheduling I think there are a lot of teams that would be hard to rank right now. The only things I know for sure is we have a veteran qb who is very mobile, we have fast, athletic receivers, our defense forces a lot of turnovers and has been good against the run so far.

Will depend a lot on who GAHS has ready to play on Friday night. PHS looks very good.

Gut says Portsmouth. Hoping the Devils prove us all wrong. 35-28 PHS is the pick. The winner is the OVC Runner up. Loser finishes fourth behind Ironton, this game's winner, and Fairland.
