Burg is in mix as well. Week 1 Ironton game isnt an indication of how Burg stacks up. I agree with Wobycat, Burg has chance along with the other 3 listed. Ironton still the favorite until proven otherwise.

Does anyone KNOW anything about Harvest Prep? Other than how they played ironton last year and then hanging with Hartley this year, they seem to have tailed off a little at the end of the season. Of course I’m only basing that off of scores and records of opponents…but does anyone know the story to the games, etc. ?

Oh I agree but right now I wouldn't have them higher than 4th best. Believe me I will never count Burg out, some years they seem a little down and then boom lol

I’m leaning that burg and ironton are one and two, with ironton having a slight edge. After watching ridgewood, it seems they have to lean way too much on tingle. He’s exceptional but someone will have to help him. Prep although loaded with talent, seems to take plays off. Can’t do that and win region.

Good luck to all R19 teams. I’m pulling for Ironton again

With a 100 percent Tingle and Wood playing clean on offense they have one of the top offenses in D5 and can play with anybody. This hasn’t been the case since before Tingles injury however. If they can get that back they still have a good enough D to keep them in any game, but not good enough to beat the best teams without the offense clicking on all cylinders. Not sure what to think about Prep. They seem to be a Jekyll and Hyde for sure. Looks like they were playing better overall at the beginning of the year too. Maybe they had some key injury issues also?

hammer89 wrote: Sun Oct 24, 2021 7:44 pm Still think Ironton and Ridgewood are the 2 best teams in the region and Burg has improved a bunch. Ridgewood turned the ball over 4 times against Garaway but was driving for the winning score late and got intercepted at the 10 on a tipped ball. Still don’t think Tingle is 100 percent though. If Week 12 matchup happens between Wood/Burg I would give very slight advantage to Wood playing at home. Neutral site would be a wash IMO. QB 1 or not Ironton is still king until somebody knocks them off.
Ironton will be there at the end. 3 reasons.

1. Offensive line
2. Defense
3. Depth
Both parties are correct. Those 3 reasons are very true.

Region leaders
1. Ironton
2. Ridgewood
3. Harvest Prep
4. Burg
5. Piketon

Why? There’s no rubber match, you won both games. You should want to see someone else. Division 5 has some good teams. I don’t see ironton making it this year. I been around a lot of times but my bet Kirtland plays someone from region 18 or 20.

There’s no guarantee we will even be there….seeds 1-4 in our region are undefeated and capable of winning

Watched some film on Harvest Prep and they are extremely fast on defense and fly to the ball. They have a bunch of athletes all over the field.

Not sure what prep graduated last year but when they played ironton they were very physical with ironton. They gave ironton all they wanted. I think they are way to much for northwest.

Whitehall yearling looked very bad in this video so imo still doesn't really give me an idea how good harvest prep is.

Agreed Whitehall looked rough. Don’t think you will be able to tell much about Prep this week either. No offense to Northwest. Prep beat Ready by 3 TD’s and Ridgewood plays them Saturday so that might be a little bit of a gauge. Preps loss in Week 9 to a very mediocre Licking Heights team is a bit puzzling also.

Jennings didn’t play vs LH and they had another key player out as well for that game.

One’s welcome to draw their own conclusions on the LH loss in light of that.

#1 Jennings and #51 were both out for HP the Whitehall game #51 the MLB IS a huge contributor on defense probably IMO he’s the best in their front 7 always in on or near the tackle and Jennings of course is the workhorse back who can do it all literally run catch and pass if really needed

be interesting how Ironton runs it's offense with Carpenter out.
QB 2 showed some nice passing in the Portsmouth game and the running game will be need his passing to open up the play action.
