Re: JACKSON IRONMEN FOOTBALL 2022
Can prolly think of a dozen reasons why both Wellston and VC aren’t on the Ironmens schedule anymore.
But the biggest reason.
Jackson is on the hot seat to get a Regional Championship, State/Semi Game birth, or yet a state title game.
Wellston and VC is not going to help Jackson accomplish that.

Coach Hall can't win the big games. And no a game against a 5-5 chillicothe for the league title doesn't count. "State Semi" my a$$. That won't happen anytime soon.countywide35 wrote: Fri Apr 01, 2022 12:47 am Can prolly think of a dozen reasons why both Wellston and VC aren’t on the Ironmens schedule anymore.

Re: JACKSON IRONMEN FOOTBALL 2022
Going off the last 15 years, you are absolutely right. Moving forward, who knows. If VC can get back to a level they once were, I think a Jackson series would be great for both schools. During the 90’s, VC/Jackson was pretty competitive. Jackson has maintained that level, VC frankly hasn’t. Jackson was always the measuring stick game for the Vikings. Maybe they will be again in the future.countywide35 wrote: Fri Apr 01, 2022 12:47 am Can prolly think of a dozen reasons why both Wellston and VC aren’t on the Ironmens schedule anymore.

Hall has won plenty big games. He’s won plenty of games period. Of course a state championship or regional championship is the goal everyone is pushing for but if that is the only benchmark for success then Jackson Football was trash and underachieved way before Hall came along.TheIronBoy wrote: Fri Apr 01, 2022 1:32 pmCoach Hall can't win the big games. Re: JACKSON IRONMEN FOOTBALL 2022
Surprised by this. I've never known these schools to be rivalries.
I know Jackson Wellston, Jackson Chillicothe. Never knew anything about Jackson and Vinton Co.
Re: JACKSON IRONMEN FOOTBALL 2022
From my experiences….I like the vast majority of VC people I’ve came across over the years, but I’ve also noticed a much higher % than expected that can’t stand Jackson.MadeInRossCounty wrote: Sat Apr 02, 2022 2:04 pmSurprised by this. I've never known these schools to be rivalries.

Not on field rivalries, it’s off field drama. No way they ever play again. PeriodMadeInRossCounty wrote: Sat Apr 02, 2022 2:04 pmSurprised by this. I've never known these schools to be rivalries.

I wouldn’t say ever. I mean, they do play in every other sport. If VC can get back to where they once were, I wouldn’t be shocked to see Jackson intrigued by a 30 minute non league foe.Ironmen98 wrote: Mon Apr 04, 2022 6:22 amNot on field rivalries, it’s off field drama. Re: JACKSON IRONMEN FOOTBALL 2022
Who don’t the other sports VC and Jackson play end in brawls? Why would football be different?Ironmen98 wrote: Mon Apr 04, 2022 8:35 pmDundas wrote: Mon Apr 04, 2022 8:12 pmI wouldn’t say ever. Re: JACKSON IRONMEN FOOTBALL 2022
I mean I guess there would be a higher chance since football is an already physical game and emotions can run high. I just don’t see any reason to play when you know a good amount of people from VC despises anything jackson. I just don’t see either side getting much out of it.
Re: JACKSON IRONMEN FOOTBALL 2022
Possibly but basketball can be pretty physical too. We just saw a buzzer beater basketball game a couple months ago and not one shove from a player or fans. Trust me when I say the kids at VC dislike wellston, NY and Meigs much more than the ironmen. I think it just comes down to VC being able to compete with Jackson. The game makes no sense unless VC can climb to that level. If they do, and do it consistently, then I think the odds are high that we’ll see this game again down the line. That’s a big if though. VC has a lot to prove before they drop the Crooksville/Fairfield Union types for the likes of Jackson and Waverly type programs.Ironmen34 wrote: Tue Apr 05, 2022 8:00 amI mean I guess there would be a higher chance since football is an already physical game and emotions can run high. Re: JACKSON IRONMEN FOOTBALL 2022
Let’s get this back going
Week 1 @ Logan
Week 2 vs Ironton
Week 3 @ Tri Valley
Week 4 vs Western Brown
Week 5 @ Wheelersburg
Week 6 vs Hillsboro
Week 7 @ McClain
Week 8 vs Washington
Week 9 vs Miami Trace
Week 10 @ Chillicothe
Weeks 2-5 are awesome….those game will all be so fun. Jackson/Ironton in Alumni and early season showdown. Next game will likely be a bit banged up and going to TV…tough game. Then…..Alumni will be LOADED for Jackson vs Western Brown, cannot wait for this game….then go to Burg, brutal!
Kids hitting big outputs in the weight room. No excuses about the line. Mess of senior and a few have really gotten themselves in great shape to handle that line. At least 3 great backs. Good speed (for Jackson) some of the skill guys have lived in the weight room. I wish we had a 6’3 receiver or two because Winters does not have big targets to hit, but he does have talented ones with good hands. Lost a lot on defense but kids are ready to step in for their turn. I thought Hall did a great job last year getting a lot of back ups reps in games and it will help this year. Might go 9-1 might go 7-3 but will be fun and battle tested for the playoffs.
Facing a mess of big time players…major D1 college kids in the future
