Yup. I think the kids want to compete and have a chance to knock off the local big dog. I cannot believe any real competitive spirit that wouldnt look forward to and relish the opportunity. As per usual in seo, it is the adults ( older gen) that drags everyone and everything down with them. Only the kids suffer in the end. Very well said.fielddaddy wrote: ↑Thu Sep 08, 2022 4:21 pmI agree to an extent but most OVC schools was on the fence with letting Ironton in.THEEE_GAME wrote: ↑Thu Sep 08, 2022 2:08 pmI have one impression of the ovc with the exclusion of Ironton, Fairland and Portsmouth.fielddaddy wrote: ↑Thu Sep 08, 2022 6:55 am
That's why the OVC allowed Ironton in they was down and looking to get no better.
They all saw wins and gate money now look at them.
Teams schedule for wins in most times others for competition to hopefully prepare them for the postseason.
JC may be down compared to past years but they are still a tough team and will be making noise in the postseason themselves
Underwhelming cry babies.
Necessity is necessity and I get the need per every other sport. But as far as football goes, the games against CG, RH, SP, Peake, and Gallia are jv games. They truly do more harm than good to Ironton as far as preparing for post season play because of how the schedule sets up. 1st 4 games are the meat of the schedule ( ooc play) then Fairland, then it is a lull until maybe Portsmout. OVC play ultimately results in lopsided games and decreased reps for the starters. It's almost like a sedative. Then you get to the post season and often have to start over and refocus. As bad as it is insinuated that the rest of the ovc members want Ironton out, I wouldn't see much change for the league if that were to happen. That just means Fairland takes over and dominates it every season. Maybe a trade here & there with the Trojans. The only substantive change for an Ironton less ovc would be less interest and smaller gates. Quite honestly, without Ironton, as football goes, the ovc is irrelevant.
They saw Ironton was down looked to be falling off their perch.
Pendleton put a stop to that.
Now Ironton looks to be the oasis in the dessert kind of scene with Ironton winning with transfers and coaching.
They right now are the spot to be at for a high school kid in some parents eyes.
And they are working hard to improve their facilities for all sports not just football.
Does Ironton need to be in the OVC for football no and I expect sooner than later they no longer will be.
As for other sports I fear they will become collateral damage in this process and if so then Ironton needs to make a statement and rid all their scheduling of OVC schools that don not want Ironton in at all.
And it is more than just Coal Grove that wants this.
only the kids lose out here and schools gate money will suffer but in today's world that don't seem to matter

False. It was a home and home contract.
Re: WK4 (2-1) Johnson Central (KY) @ (3-0) lronton
We will have a lot of open dates. As right now other than the 3 district games we have to play next year we only have Ashland for next year. We have to find 6 games for next year. Hopefully the tigers and the burg want to play. Win or lose Raceland would rather do that than to have to drive 3 or 4 hrs to play somebody.THEEE_GAME wrote: ↑Thu Sep 08, 2022 1:56 pm.
Looks like Raceland will have an upcoming open date starting next season since Russell is dropping them. No time like the present for the Rams to schedule them.
Sidenote: why does Russell tend to do that so much?
Re: WK4 (2-1) Johnson Central (KY) @ (3-0) lronton
Ok and Raceland turned it down…correct?Rams wrote: ↑Thu Sep 08, 2022 10:07 pmFalse. It was a home and home contract.
Re: WK4 (2-1) Johnson Central (KY) @ (3-0) lronton
No. We played the home and home. Won 17-0 at home lost 25-12 at ironton
Re: WK4 (2-1) Johnson Central (KY) @ (3-0) lronton
We aren’t going to turn down Ironton or Wheelersburg. We can’t have more than two out of state teams on the schedule though because of our stupid RPI system. Any team we play out of state no matter who it is we only get credit for playing a 500 team.

Yeah Kentucky's playoff system penalizes the boarder towns for sure.
Raceland could easily join a conference along the river and Russell could to but the powers to be in Kentucky has a system to deter that.
Sadly Ohio is going in a direction where everyone makes it and the first few rounds can be pretty ugly not every team deserves the chance to be in a playoff given they may find out a 63-0 loss does not really build memories but nightmares to see a 6-4 season was the same as a 2-8 season.
A lot of weak teams playing weaker schedules does nothing but give a team a winning record not one to depend on at playoff time,

This is going to be a good ole fashion slobber knocker. Look for Irontons D to step it up a notch against a very good run Team. I hope everyone comes out healthy after this hard hitting game.

Does Wylie Still play for IHS? He took Tayden’s QB spot last year & did well.
Haven’t heard his name called this year & hes not on roster & not sure if he graduated?

Was a sophomore last year, as stated earlier, he is a baseball player. Ironton has good depth at QB this year with Tayden, Ashland transfer, and Schreck. So he isn’t needed. He did play fairly solid against the toughest part of Irontons schedule though as he only lost to Moeller and Burg in the playoffs. Tayden only played against the weaker OVC teams since he got hurt early in first Burg game and Portsmouth regular season.Tjhtygeverve wrote: ↑Fri Sep 09, 2022 7:28 pm Does Wylie Still play for IHS?
