And have Steubenville and dover next. Will be a good measuring stick for ff if linsly even remotely plays both of those teams tough. Steubenville is definitely cream of the cropEasternDspy wrote: Sat Sep 24, 2022 9:45 am Linsly is a good team that now has wins over

Don't let that distract you from the fact that it's been 3,263 days since Fort Frye lost a home regular season game to a team that doesn't start with L, M, or N.Buckeye2021 wrote: Sat Sep 24, 2022 1:27 pmNow that’s funnyThenegotiator wrote: Sat Sep 24, 2022 1:18 pm It’s been 8 days since Fort Frye has won a regular season game…

Re: Fort Frye 38 - 41 Linsly (WV) 2022
I'm no FF fan by a long stretch, but let's be honest. Linsly is not a high school. The kids don't grow up together. They come from where ever. I had friends there. It's a great place to get an education. As good as money can buy.
It prepares kids academically for college. It also allows good athletes to play a level of competition that gives them the best shot for an athletic scholarship. Cowan is already taking visits to div 1 schools as a junior. Wouldn't be happening at PHS, RC, or Fort Frye for that matter. I give FF credit for playing the game, but in my book that L has a big asterisk beside it. I couldnt even enjoy it.There is a reason Linsly has to play who they do and that's the same reason they can't participate in the WV playoffs. It was a great game to watch. Glad I went. FF didn't cry about the obvious. So I'll say it for them. Rootie toot toot, rootie toot toot, we are the boys from the institute. We don't smoke and we don't chew, and we don't go with girls that do.

It has always been a prep/boarding school. As someone else said, it used to operate with a military structure and was an all boys school for over a hundred years. It costs $42k per year to live on campus and has a 100% college placement rate.muskiefan11 wrote: Sat Sep 24, 2022 8:40 am Is Linsly turning into a prep school like an IMG, Montverde, Oak Hill, St. Francis, etc?
Re: Fort Frye 38 - 41 Linsly (WV) 2022
Linsly is no IMG or etc... Linsly is usually solid in most sports and they do not have a huge enrollment . Yes they can recruit but education is their main purpose. Fort just got beat by a good team. If you played this game multiple times it would probably flip flop. Sounds like people are making excuses that they only lost because its a private school and the game shouldn't count. Well only 1 guy above said that which is silly. This game will help Fort as they prepare for the playoffs.enigmaax wrote: Sat Sep 24, 2022 11:40 pmIt has always been a prep/boarding school. Linsly will lose this week though by 2-3 touchdowns though at Steubenville.
Re: Fort Frye 38 - 41 Linsly (WV) 2022
No excuses. Fort knew exactly what they were getting. The game will most definitely help get them ready for the playoffs. The win will not help Linsly do anything but recruit more kids. No playoff for you.

Actually not one Fort Frye person has made an excuse. They got beat by a very good team. They did have 73 players and only a few 1-2 played both ways almost all Fort Frye players played both ways. Team was gassed first time playing 4 Qts all season. This kinda game was good for them in the long run. Heck they lost and moved up to 1 in the region. Linsly is probably better than any team in the region. The no huddle was killer.

Thanks! I knew they were private and not on IMG level just wondered if they had aspirations to become something similar. What makes them different from other WV private schools and stops them from playing for state titles?wch125 wrote: Sun Sep 25, 2022 6:18 amLinsly is no IMG or etc... Re: Fort Frye 38 - 41 Linsly (WV) 2022
WVSSAC will not allow Linsly to be a member because of their boarding students. About 10 or so years ago, the state Senate passed a bill to recognize Huntington Prep as a member so that they could play in national tournaments, but not to play in state tournaments. Linsly tried to get added to that bill so they could participate in state tournaments, but were denied. Supposedly, they had previously been offered a compromise of making boarded students ineligible for sports and refused that offer. Linsly has a “no tryout, no cut” policy. All of their students can participate in any sport they choose and that conflicts with WVSSAC rules.muskiefan11 wrote: Sun Sep 25, 2022 1:00 pmThanks! Local schools or any school for that matter knows exactly what they are getting when scheduling Linsly , but with that said their education is second to none . Boarding students pay $40 grand plus , day students less than $20 G , grant’s obviously lower those figures to some degree .

Well, Linsly beat Big Red 28-27. A West Virginia team had not won at Harding Stadium since Weir in 1957.

Not sure about football but Linsly is for sure trying to do something big in basketball. I know that first hand. Whether they get there or not remains to be seen. Their teams have seems to have gotten a lot better recently.
