Prep kids wrestle? Cause they OWN burg. LolRBH23 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 03, 2022 11:22 amOne thing that has not been discussed:Old Time Tiger wrote: ↑Sat Dec 03, 2022 11:09 am O line has to get stronger and the Head Coach needs to turn play calling over to someone else..
Sounds like the entire staff will look a lot different next year
Many of these successful NEO football programs also have wrestling programs. Coldwater, Kirtland, South Range…only Marion Local does not.
I personally believe that if Ironton and Burg want to compete with these programs each and every year, they need to add a wrestling program even if just a club team. Skills learned wrestling are very valuable on the football field.

It’s a school sponsored sport. They go to tournaments, or meets or whatever they are called.

The wrestling programs in southern Ohio are not given the attention and resources as they are In the northern part of the state.. Different world.. For those that didn't know, South Range won the state title last year. I would bet that a lot of those kids now have 2 state titles counting this year's D5 football trophy..
Stamina, leverage, aggressiveness, flat out toughness all taught in winning wrestling programs..

Jackson has a wrestling program and it's not helping them even win a regional title. They need to bring in guys with deep knowledge of how the trenches work and how to shed blocks and maintain blocks if they want to help themselves they need to get nasty inside. It's not going to hurt obviously but it's not the difference in for these NEO teams.RBH23 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 03, 2022 11:22 amOne thing that has not been discussed:Old Time Tiger wrote: ↑Sat Dec 03, 2022 11:09 am O line has to get stronger and the Head Coach needs to turn play calling over to someone else..

Having a program is a start, but in NEO, wrestling is a religion. Most popular sport next to football.greygoose wrote: ↑Sun Dec 04, 2022 10:49 amJackson has a wrestling program and it's not helping them even win a regional title. There were some sluggers in this graduating class that could knock your head off! I’m not sure ironton will have many this year that will flat out lay the smack down. I’m hoping I’m wrong.

Re: 2023 Ironton Tigers
Why was Felder not used more ? He was a much better back then the others they used all year,1,000 yard rusher at Huntington last year?
I'm sure he was promised playing time to come over but ended up playing very little and not even breaking 500 yards ,bet he's second guessing that move.
What is the "REAL" reason the other guys got the bulk ?
Can we say why on here?
