TVC Ohio to amend membership rules
I am pushing for a new rule to require teams to have turf as a condition of membership in the TVC Ohio.
Currently we have Athens, Nelsonville York, and Meigs now meet the requirements.
All other teams will need to move to a third division or they can join Hocking schools in an effort to form a new league. Either way is fine so that southern can get a chance to win a conference crown in something.
That being said. We need some schools in our upper crust turf division. Thinking we should invite Warren, Jackson, Logan, and Marietta. We can invite Fart Frye but they have to play in that middle division with the other pasture field teams.

Great idea. I’d love to get Gallia in the Ohio too but they can’t afford turf.
I know, I was D1 fellas

Unfortunately that is correct. They would have to play Fart Frye in the Pasture Division upon acceptance.

You invite those teams Meigs would never win another TVC Ohio conference game. You might want to put grass back in a take your 50/50 shot with a chance to win in the Hocking.Leave No Doubt wrote: ↑Wed Aug 09, 2023 11:00 am I am pushing for a new rule to require teams to have turf as a condition of membership in the TVC Ohio.

Plus by that standard that means they think they are better then Alabama, Clemson, SoutherN Cal, UCLA, Penn State, Michigan State, in addition to the Chiefs, Packers, just to name a few!

I was turf man at one point in my life, but now, there are numerous significant studies that turf is the reason for the rise in ACL and general knee injuries that we are seeing today. So, I am no longer a fan. Sorry. Not sorry.
Re: TVC Ohio to amend membership rules
Curious, would you mind sharing the link to one of those studies. I’d love to see the research on this. Schools around here can't afford the 10's of thousands of dollars it takes to install and upkeep a turf field, for 5 games a year, maybe 10-15 if they have jv & jr hi play on it. Gallia can't even get a stadium at their school, let alone afford turf, ya'll keep dreaming though.

There is no need for turf--- The smell of grass is all you need--Also most schools cant afford turf.

Also, back in May, I believe, HBO Real Sports had a great segment on the turf debate
