I QB’d on the road for a season and coached for a couple years in college and HS only 1 place rattled me. @ Parkersburg South and their band played during our huddle and during the snap. So imo Home field doesn’t exist unless you can produce 10k fans and all them being fired up.enigmaax wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2023 10:07 amAnd yet, they’ve won 40+ consecutive games on the road. Your point is that home field matters; your example doesn’t really support the point as home field doesn’t seem to have made a bit of difference to Fort Frye (they win at home and win on the road).Notsofastmyfriend wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2023 9:52 am
They lost to a team who would beat anyone in SE Ohio.
I figure Morgan’s players will be fired up to play on their new field. But high school football stadiums at this size/level just don’t really generate the distractions, noise level, etc. that creates what we call home field advantage in college and professional sports.

But when Taylor was throwing to Gandee it was a different story right? The mountain top 7-2 team that Warren had.beg003 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2023 10:11 am [quote=Notsofastmyfriend post_id=2073441 time=1692971422 user_id=17328]

Morgan has the same receiver #8 who owned the same corners #22 and #11 last year. Morgan has the same QB who threw those passes. Now I’m no genius, but I’d say the Morgan experience might be a little better a year later? If those matchups were good enough to win last year, then why not this year AT HOME!

No, not really. We saw what happened when we tried to do it with two players against St. Clairsville. That team had a roster full of good players. Kellar, Welch, Pettey, Berga, Rice, the list goes on. Those two helped but they certainly didn’t win games by themselves. It was all 11 of them. Not really sure what your big problem is.

We got a year older too, genius. How about letting them play the game before crowning Morgan as God’s gift to football? They’re a nice team, but my goodness. Last time I checked, it’s not Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr suiting up in Death Valley, but you’d think it is by your posts. 2 players out of 11 don’t win many games.Notsofastmyfriend wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2023 8:10 am

No one should feel like an outsider or visitor in The Morgan County Federal Covid Relief Memorial Stadium. Every taxpayer in this country is paying for the entire facility. 74 million dollars. All through the loophole of student mental health and adding a small classroom space, which will quickly be phased into additional sports use.
Re: Week 2: Warren (1-0) at Morgan (1-0)
Did Morgan pass a levy for the facilities or is it actually federal money? I haven’t heard anything about how it came to be.Curious wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2023 10:37 am No one should feel like an outsider or visitor in The Morgan County Federal Covid Relief Memorial Stadium. Maybe if Rice played against St. C Warren would’ve done better? That was a big hole in the middle of the defense who wasn’t there.

Or if we didn’t rely on one player on offense against a team good enough to take him away somewhat. Rice would’ve certainly helped but that game was 12-0 at halftime. Certainly not out of hand.

This facility was built with what the district stated covid relief funds and oil and gas funds. The district received 83 million in covid relief funds. The entire sports program is new. New weight room equipment. All new track equipment. New side by sides, golf carts. Flipped the softball field. Much more. Enjoy! At least Warren residents had the opportunity to vote on their facility.

That’s unreal. I’ve never heard of that happening. Did it increase property taxes, or any taxes for that matter?Curious wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2023 10:56 am This facility was built with what the district stated covid relief funds and oil and gas funds. No new taxes. Paid for through the CARES Act and the American Rescue Plan. The last of the three deadlines for money allocation/expenditure is something like 9/24/23. I believe most of this spending fell under the student health and wellness loophole.
Re: Week 2: Warren (1-0) at Morgan (1-0)
Doesn’t sound like a bad deal, at least on the surface. Wild stuff.

In the end it wasn't the amazing crowd noise that made the difference. The atmosphere had no impact on the game. Warren was out physicaled. The were bullied on both side of the ball. They fought until the end, but the young offensive line got beat all night. Morgan got everything they wanted on the ground. And Niceswonger (spelling?) Is a great player and was the Morgan offense. I remembered him from last year as well. Another thing that impacted the game was Warren's lack of depth. I don't think I've ever seen that many cramps in one game.
Hats off to Morgan. I would say they have a good chance of playing in the post season

The money was there and they took advantage of it. Good for them! I hope it was a great decision that helps lots of students.

Wasn’t there but this is the exact thing I heard. It surprised me about the physicality side, but I did think the lack of depth would catch up on a weather day like today. I thought the offensive line would be better, but they obviously have things to keep working on. Like I said, if we let the QB take over the game, it wouldn’t be good and it wasn’t. Credit to Morgan, they have had our number recently. Fairbanks needs to get healthy for us, that helps our RB and DB depth out a good bit.Bucknuts88 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2023 10:33 pm In the end it wasn't the amazing crowd noise that made the difference. Our guys played their hearts out. Strahler, and Carr ran hard, although I would like to see our guys make more people miss in the open field. But Sealey ran for his life and still made plays, and TP balled out. It just looks like the same familiar theme of the last 20 years or so. We always have good skill, but we have to develop our OLine, and DLine. We looked small tonight. Going to have to get those guys on not just a strength program, but a nutrition program so we can add some weight up front. This game shows us how much better we need to be to be a playoff team, because that's what Morgan is. Keep working boysbeg003 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2023 11:02 pmWasn’t there but this is the exact thing I heard.
