Re: August 25, 2023 Chesapeake 22 - 21 Minford
Chesapeake started their 2017 season at 3-0.
This is a bad loss for Minford. Is it time for Minford to look at going in another direction with their coaching staff in the off season?
Give Chesapeake credit though, as they did pull out the victory. You’ve got to be doing something right to be undefeated.

Congrats to Peake. Great win for your program.
Minford is a mess. They don’t look good. This falls on the staff. They are terrible fundamentally. Look who west, burg and Waverly have played. Minford hasn’t played anyone on those teams levels and are lucky to be 1-1. At what point does Minford say it’s time for a new staff.

It’s painfully obvious the Minford football program consistently underachieves. They have the athletes. Just need new coaching and a staff that works the kids. West, burg and Waverly will man handle them, and they should t this year

It's not the staff. They have proven coaches on the sidelines. Many of which transitioned their pee wee and Jr high programs and were on the sidelines when Minford contended.
It's the HC.
If I remember correctly it was a very weird set of circumstances when they hired him?

Re: August 25, 2023 Chesapeake 22 - 21 Minford
Since the current head coach has held that position, Minford is 37-34, and 0-4 in the playoffs.
SOC2 breakdown:
Oak Hill: 4-3
Waverly: 0-7
West: 4-3
Burg: 0-8 (including playoff game)
Valley: 4-3
Total: 12-24
I can think of many games where Minford has had a substantial lead in a game and lost: Logan 2017, Oak Hill multiple times, and last night. Minford lead 21-6 and lost. This is to shed light that the community of Minford deserves better.

Exactly! When you play the weakest D5 non conf schedule it only pads the wins, but none are quality. How many times has Minford went 5-0 to get killed by burg in week 6

The game vs Logan in 2017 was a disaster. There were many a mumbling after that one. The offensive play calling and refusal to run the ball with a huge lead was just idiotic. 28 point lead (I believe) gone.
Like I said.......there are some very good coaches on staff including former HC and one that should have been a HC a long time ago.
So it's not like they don't have proven coaches on staff. One just has to wonder if they really have any say so to what's going on with the current HC..

Hard to compete with some of these teams when they have twice as many resources. Might have the better athletes but until you can give these athletes an equal opportunity to perform, it’ll be hard to keep up.
Re: August 25, 2023 Chesapeake 22 - 21 Minford
So you feel that Chesapeake has twice as many resources?? I'm sorry but this is the biggest cop out, Northwest has some of the top resources, do you feel that has made them better, what about Valley and the new stuff they have brought in?? Resources isn't what distinguishes one team from another it starts with athletes to begin with as some schools simply don't have them or have down years and then it's coaching, trying to say hard to compete because other teams have twice the amount of resources is just shocking to believe someone would think that. Oak Hill with a 4-3 record vs minford it was showing you believe they have more resources? This game was a 41-7 victory for Minford last year that's a huge turnaround, this game had to be one of the biggest upsets of the week and some coaches need to get back to the drawing boardFalconNation wrote: ↑Sat Aug 26, 2023 3:13 pm Hard to compete with some of these teams when they have twice as many resources. I absolutely believe it’s a legitimate issue. Sure we could argue coaching could do things differently but playing half your games one a surface you only see 5 times a season. Never practicing kicking on that surface. It’s also impacting the amount of students that stay in the district or come out to play. It’s a culture issue and there hasn’t been much done at the district level to make it better.greygoose wrote: ↑Sat Aug 26, 2023 3:22 pmSo you feel that Chesapeake has twice as many resources?? Re: August 25, 2023 Chesapeake 22 - 21 Minford
minford has a lot of athletes they don't utilize pica kid is a dog but football is a team sport he can't do it all. I feel like there's scheme on offence are terrible. They have two receivers they can bring in motion for jets and slants etc. The caduill boy is a TrackStar use him in a read option or an RPO setting go to the two back system bring the trickery of the wing t back anything other than pica up the middle not taking nothing away from the kid he is awesome but they need change a direction of the offensive. I think minford defense is tough. They just got tired last night as much as they was on the field imo I think a coaching staff that has no ties in Minford at all would do wonders for the program and bring athletes who have quit football because maybe their talent wasn't recognized because of other limitations of the good all boy system. I think Minford could be a real contender in the SOC if this would happen
Re: August 25, 2023 Chesapeake 22 - 21 Minford
This coaching thing has been said for years and nothing done!! They have lost so many games they should have won. But when ur wife steps down, whoops I mean suppose to until you get hired only to say forget it I’m staying out. She’s not going to fire her husband unless something has changed.many reason could have got rid of him but oh no. You complain about ur telling his wife.good luck!Jason Vorhees wrote: ↑Sat Aug 26, 2023 8:59 am Chesapeake started their 2017 season at 3-0.

Not to pile on but Fairland plays home games on grass and they seem to fair pretty well in most games.FalconNation wrote: ↑Sat Aug 26, 2023 3:35 pmI absolutely believe it’s a legitimate issue. Re: August 25, 2023 Chesapeake 22 - 21 Minford
Oh ok, now see that explains it a lot better you're one of the ones upset that the school hasn't pushed for turf even though apparently funds were set aside but never happened. As someone said Fairland plays on grass and mainly plays on turf in the OVC and they're finishing 2nd or 3rd in the league basically every year. Not having turf isn't affecting the number of students that come out and play either, you either want to play or you don't winning usually gets those kids to come out. I mean 2 of the 6 wins last year came against teams with turf and Minford seemed to handle that just fine. 2 years ago they beat Chesapeake 33-0 at Peake on turf, beat West 41-21 same year on turf, just not a valid excuse. Minford does a nice job of keeping up with their field and honestly probably have one of the nicer grass fields remaining in the area. It boils down to coaching plain and simple, turf, grass or gavel doesn't win ball games.FalconNation wrote: ↑Sat Aug 26, 2023 3:35 pmI absolutely believe it’s a legitimate issue. Re: August 25, 2023 Chesapeake 22 - 21 Minford
WTF kinda of statement is this?!?!? It's a poor excuse at best. So you think if Minford installed turf they'd be SOCII Champs? 10-15 yrs ago when Minford was getting 65-75 boys out for the team, competing for the SOCII crown, turf had nothing to do with the attitude and culture out there. The ground crews out in Falcon Land keep that field in tip-top shape and it's one best natural turf fields in the entire state. How many boys are on the 2023 fall football roster?FalconNation wrote: ↑Sat Aug 26, 2023 3:13 pm Hard to compete with some of these teams when they have twice as many resources. The problem in Minford is what a few on here have touched on, and it's not the turf.
