We've struggled to beat Gallia even when we had superior talent, it's been that way as long as I've lived In Portsmouth

Portsmouth Punt
Gallia TD
Portsmouth safety has this one 8-0 early and Gallia has the ball on Portsmouths end of the field again.

Not much to like about this from a Portsmouth viewpoint. No energy or passion from the boys tonight. Play calling/coaching wasn’t good. Down double digits and punting, almost refusing to throw the ball. Didn’t tackle well, secondary was abysmal, line didn’t block well. Positives were a nice long ball from Cam Williams, Chase Heiland ran hard and it was good to see JT Williams back. Congrats to Gallia on the win, good luck the rest of the season. Trojans have to win the next 2 even they even want to sniff the playoffs.

Don't know what happened in this one, honestly. Like I said earlier, Portsmouth always plays Gallia tough and Gallia just wasn't having any of that tonight. Hopefully Portsmouth gets it together and finishes the year strong.PTrojan59 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 15, 2023 11:22 pm Not much to like about this from a Portsmouth viewpoint. 5 up, 5 down for the Blue.

Gallia is a strong team. A team that will give Ironton and others some trouble. As long as they stay focused and keep their eye on the prize, they legit could be OVC champs. They were an exciting team to watch tonight.

One week at a time. Everything the Blue Devils put in the work for is still very much in front of them, but they gotta take care of business against Fairland, Rock Hill, Coal Grove first, to make a hypothetical win over Ironton lock up a league title. Then they'd need to finish the job against South Point, which won't be a walk in the park either.sportsnutscioto wrote: ↑Sat Sep 16, 2023 12:18 am Gallia is a strong team. The Trojans took steps back to week 2 and 3. They abandoned the passing game and simply didn’t look down field. I question if this was the game plan for the week leading up to Friday night. The young Williams Qb is effective. But the eyes have to be downfield. Teams are prepared for the run. I can’t figure out why the Trojans continue to live and die on that hill. Pride, stubborn, just throwing in the towel? The run indeed sets up your passing game. But, that also works the other way. Keep running the ball when you’re down 30 and your RB’s health will expire by week 7.
Looking at Joe Eitel currently, GA is the #5 team in D4 R15, with Vinton County at #12. Could be a fun first round matchup if the standings hold up, which is unlikely.
