Thoughts on this one?
Marietta is by far the best team Williamstown has played, and might be the best team they play in the regular season (Wheeling Central Catholic the only other possibility). The Jackets haven’t even had a competitive quarter yet as they’ve overwhelmed severely inferior opponents.
Marietta has won 3 in a row (albeit with two of those wins vs bad Athens and Ripley teams). Run game seems to be coming along and the defense is playing well. They lean on the run heavily with the Wing-T but will also look for big plays in the passing game to their top receiver, who is a great athlete.
I’m interested in this one and am hopeful for a competitive game. The Tigers should not be afraid of Williamstown’s passing game and should feel comfortable playing man coverage and loading the box to stop the run.

Marietta and “best team” should never been used in the same paragraph. Williamstown will have no problem beating the Tigers this season. Maybe next year!boss8 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 17, 2023 11:00 pm Thoughts on this one?

Yeah, Williamstown probably wins comfortably, but the Tigers about to look like the Kansas City Chiefs compared to the cupcakes Williamstown loaded the front of their schedule with.UncleRico05 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 18, 2023 8:15 amMarietta and “best team” should never been used in the same paragraph. And they’ll still win by 40

Hey, we'd like to reserve this thread for actual (somewhat) intelligent conversation about the game. Not whatever meager "trash talk" you've brought to the table. Re: Week 6: Marietta (3-2) @ Williamstown WV (4-0)
Hard to tell what Williamstown is yet considering the schedule they have played. They always come to play against Marietta, so I imagine it will be tough sledding for the Tigers. But hope to see a competitive game!pioneer19 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 19, 2023 7:01 pmYeah, Williamstown probably wins comfortably, but the Tigers about to look like the Kansas City Chiefs compared to the cupcakes Williamstown loaded the front of their schedule with.UncleRico05 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 18, 2023 8:15 amMarietta and “best team” should never been used in the same paragraph. Re: Week 6: Marietta (3-2) @ Williamstown WV (4-0)
I would have to give the edge to Williamstown, especially them having the home field advantage as well.
Re: Week 6: Marietta (3-2) @ Williamstown WV (4-0)
Jackets by 3 scores.
Good luck and good health to both teams.

Would love nothing more than to see the Tigers come out and knock off the Jackets, but I expect an outcome similar to the MHS-West M game. Tight game first half, Williamstown pulls away in the second half. Three scores sounds about right.boss8 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 21, 2023 5:04 pmHard to tell what Williamstown is yet considering the schedule they have played. It will NOT be a running clock beat down like last year, unless we completely self destruct. How many fumbles did we have in this one last season?

Marietta running wild. Maybe Williamstown should beef up that joke of a schedule.

Lieras-Kelly picks off Molessa to end the half.
Marietta just flat out the better team in the first half.

Williamstown QB is a pure gamer. What a clutch second half performance. Marietta had the better team, but he was the best player on field and difference maker. Marietta is much improved, same old tough Williamstown. They know how to win.

But the best player in the MOV ran wild when it mattered. Too bad Williamstown don’t play Fort Frye this year.EasternDspy wrote: ↑Fri Sep 22, 2023 7:38 pm Marietta running wild. Maybe Williamstown should beef up that joke of a schedule.
