Muskies make the long trip to Bellefontaine to face the Chieftans and Junior 5-Star Ohio State Commit QB Tavien St. Clair. Don’t know much about Bellefontaine other than their QB. I’d imagine this is the first ever meeting between these two.

Doesn’t appear that Bellefontaine has played a super tough schedule but the games that stand out are a 3 point loss to perennial small-school powerhouse Coldwater, 30 point loss to R11 2-seed London, and a 5 point win over Alder. Bellefontaine has scored 40+ points in 7 of 10 games this year.

Seems like a bad matchup for the JG defense as their run defense is stout, but struggled defending the pass against TV last week. JG Offense has been improved the last 3 weeks.

Rooting for a JG win but I think the Bellefontaine passing game will be too much.

You're spot on, as the JG pass D has been suspect over the last several years. They did a pretty good job against a very good Tri Valley RB minus two plays where tackling was non existent. JG ran the ball fairly well but stalled because of penalties and there were a few head scratchers deep in TV territory. IMO if JG cannot run for over 200 yards, they are not in this game at the end.

Watched some video on Bellefontaine. QB St. Clair is a stud, outstanding arm that can make any throw on the field and is an extremely shifty athlete for his 6’3 frame. RB #4 is FAST and is often used in the passing game too. Appears they also have two receivers who are solid pass catchers and can make some plays out in space. Wasn’t able to find much on their defense but it appeared that they were at times susceptible to giving up yards on the ground. Hopefully JG can run the ball and control the clock and put points on the board and give themselves a chance.

Good season Muskies, 8-3 and a tough playoff matchup. Must continue improving physically and skill wise to compete in R11. D3 is a much different animal than D4.
