Jottings was one of the last of his generation - the old SE Ohio sportswriters and broadcasters. He was always generous with his time and provided information and knowledge in my search for SE Ohio history.

He was a good man. Always enjoyed our conversations. RIP

Are they that low on numbers? I know they have a new coach and the coaching turmoil with the community last year took a toll but they have several winning seasons in a row. Winning usually brings the numbers up.

NFL saying Meigs should be beating GA so HC should be fired finally got his crony hired. Let’s see if he can beat them. What ya’ll think?

Not sure what the numbers are, but anything less than 7-3 or 8-2 with that schedule should be seen as a huge disappointment. Tough road games in Ironton, Coal Grove, and Portsmouth. At least Meigs is always a guaranteed way to start the season 1-0!

Should be a winning record for the devils. A few of these games could be toss ups, we’ll have to see how everything pans out.
I don’t think numbers are a problem. Maybe a bit less than last year.

so now you are saying meigs has better support at the ballot box? do you guyts do anything better than us?
You already know the answer to that question, if you check your history.
Just asking if the new field at Meigs was funded with a tax levy. That's all.
No. Formed the Meigs Local Enrichment Foundation headed by former Meigs great Mike Bartrum. They got their current football stadium as well as a cross country trail and a new softball field through donations.
This is only partly true because they included the walking trail they qualified for a grant for almost half the money

Ok let’s talk football team way to many people talking who know nothing. The gallipolis community supports Gallia academy football and every head coach they have had.

Let’s discuss why there were basically no internal canidates for the head coaching position and why none of them will go on the new coaches staff. For about the last 12 years there have been a ton of decisions made and almost none of them were made to improve things for the kids or the program. You have had a few people that have put themselves and their pride over what was best for the kids……

Now you have a group of very good coaches that have basically said that when you prove that you are going to what is best for the kids we will come coach but until you prove it we are out…. Those are just the plain facts.

This may be a short term set back on the program but hopefully this will change the focus to what is best for the players in the future.

There is enough talent there that this team will be successful.

As far as stadium goes let’s talk about holzer and the football field. I have no idea what holzer originally offered Gallia academy to help with field but let’s talk facts.

The hospital I know had promised 1 million as when new school opened. Holzer do to financial loses from Obama care begin to take huge loses and have found themselves in tremendous debt debt. That is why the 1 million dollars went away. Holzer has still given and is supporting the stadium project that I personally think is way closer to being a reality than a lot of people think. I think it will be built and being played in over the next 4 years or so.

I care more about the kids/team than the new field. Hope powers-that-be can get it together.
