Deflect to transfers? That’s because transfers keep Ironton’s program afloat!
2022, last year Ironton went further than Burg in playoffs, Felder, Keyes, and Perkins scored 70% of Ironton’s touchdowns in the regional finals, state semifinals, and state championships games. 70%!! That year, Burg lost to Ironton 12-3. Who scored the touchdowns? Perkins and Felder.
It’s what Ironton is despite all of the false claims by Ironton fans.
As for Ironton, their program would be impacted greatly without the transfers they have received. Sayers, Perkins, Keyes, Felder, Terry, etc. All have dramatically impacted IHS’ program.

Kids transferring schools isn't even against the rulebook! You are allowed to transfer anywhere you want, if you "move" you don't even have to sit out. Nobody should complaining about a family trying to put their children in the best place for the future, heck, even for the memories. If you're a parent, and your kids plays sports, why wouldn't you want them at Wheelersburg or Jackson. By far the best two schools in southeast Ohio for both academics combined with Athletics.
Re: 2024 Football Transfers
Lol this is southern Ohio, no one is moving for academics. Would be cool if some did but they aren’t.SEO Sports wrote: ↑Tue Jun 25, 2024 7:33 pm Kids transferring schools isn't even against the rulebook! Wheelersburg, South Webster and Jackson typically rank the best when those lists come out. It may be a perk for some but it’s not the reason sadly.TigerBlood00 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 25, 2024 9:46 pmI know this, YOU know this, but burg fans swear that wheelersburg high school is the seo ivy leagueEd Ott wrote: ↑Tue Jun 25, 2024 9:00 pmLol this is southern Ohio, no one is moving for academics. Re: 2024 Football Transfers
Burg and Webster can gain or lose kids annually because of all the schools in close proximity. Jackson doesn’t get many transfers from Wellston or Oak Hill. Their “transfers” are mostly open enrollment kids who live closer to Jackson than their home schools. But yes, those three schools probably get more academic move-ins than other schools.Ed Ott wrote: ↑Tue Jun 25, 2024 10:22 pmWheelersburg, South Webster and Jackson typically rank the best when those lists come out. Re: 2024 Football Transfers
I'm sure a lot of schools will get transfers here and there just about each year, in this area though no one is really going to notice them until the season starts or maybe even the following season. Jackson gets transfers just like the rest of them it just comes and goes with different years and yes they come from Vinton County, Wellston and Oak Hill. Burgs claim has always been well they've been with us since junior high, you can go look at our CB yada yada, bottom line they transferred in Junior high they're still a freakin transfer and education they can claim but why didn't those kids start out at burg for the education right out of the gate?? Get what I'm getting at here ppl a lot of schools will have them and the schools that are successful get them the most. Kids aren't transferring into the Lucasville Valley's and Portsmouth Trojans school but we'll know more as the season goes on. As far as Ironton goes, well who cares it hasn't gotten them anywhere they landed themselves on top of the big bad OVC and they fall to teams with the same caliber talent so it's obviously not getting them anywhere. At this point just getting out of the region is a challenge now that HP has taken it over.
Re: 2024 Football Transfers
Speaking of CB #’s, I was shocked to see Oak Hill and Lucasville have the highest in the SOC. Oak Hill’s CB count is almost as high as their participation #.greygoose wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2024 12:32 am I'm sure a lot of schools will get transfers here and there just about each year, in this area though no one is really going to notice them until the season starts or maybe even the following season. Re: 2024 Football Transfers
Their district has some weird areas jutting in and out, so their CB probably includes a lot of kids who have gone there since elementary days. Kids who technically live in Minford, Webster, Jackson, and Gallia might be closer to OHHS, so they go there, but count as tier 1. I doubt OH is getting many of any tier 2 kids, since their programs are down and the coaches are playing musical chairs.RBH23 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2024 10:28 amSpeaking of CB #’s, I was shocked to see Oak Hill and Lucasville have the highest in the SOC. Just a guess, but that explains their CB number more than anyone opting to go there now for sports or academics.

That makes sense. Hence why CB has to be considered with context.GrumpyPundit wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2024 12:23 amTheir district has some weird areas jutting in and out, so their CB probably includes a lot of kids who have gone there since elementary days. Burg has a similar issue as well with Sciotoville, Minford, South Webster, and Franklin Furnace. Some students live in Wheelersburg (Wheelersburg address) but are technically in another school’s district.

Re: 2024 Football Transfers
So does Valley. Most of their CB number comes from kids that have always gone to Valley, they just live outside of the district. I know of only a few kids that have transferred in during high school. The problem with Valley is there isn't any land for sale for people to build and move in to the district. They have to find homes in other areas and drive the kids in.
Re: 2024 Football Transfers
2 good athletes that just graduated and 3 more still there are from JCS. Oak Hill is a good fit for some kids. They all seem to be doing well there. Re: 2024 Football Transfers
Maybe you can explain it to me because I’m pretty sure if they’ve gone to that school the entire time they don’t count as a CB. Numbers don’t start adding up until like junior high or high school based on certain criteria. Pretty sure though that life long students do not count for a CB so this wouldn’t be the case.transplant wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2024 10:55 am So does Valley. Even if a student has went to the school from k-12, residency still matters. According to this k-12 kids do count against CB unless the student and at least one parent live in the district.
