The Ohio will come down to week 10 like the ole days when Athens visits NY. Both return a ton.

What all does NY have returning this year? It should be a fun race in the Ohio. Athens, and Wellston will be much improved from last year. VC lost a lot and will bring in a new coach from the championship team last season. Meigs is a question mark with a new coach but they have some talent. RV and Alex have a long way to go.

NY return starters:
Landon Inman - SR QB/WR/DB
Ben Perry - SR K
Brennan Tomlin - SR C
Carson Linegar - SR TE/DE
Logan Meek - SR DE
Alec Thompson - JR WR/DB
Austin Gautier - JR RB/LB
Dakota Cunningham - JR RB/LB
Caleb Layton - JR G/DT
Will Odenthal - JR T
Cameron Sullivan - SO QB/DE

Some JV guys will also see time. Holden Hodsgon (SO) & Walker Stone (SO) will see good minutes I think. I’m probably forgetting a starter or two. Will return a lineman who will start who was out with a torn ACL last year. Biggest question will be QB.. thankfully we have some options but it’s anybody’s guess who will get the job. The freshman class coming in is really good, including the QB but I don’t see Rusty starting a freshman. Would compare this team to the 2016 team.

I agree on Wellston, they will be interesting this year, I know they were pretty young last season. Their QB impressed me. This could be the best the league has been at the top for a few years.

What would your early predictions be 1-7 for the Ohio division this year?

I think Athens will be tough to beat..however if NY can get stronger up front, I think they will be the team to beat. They have had really good numbers in the weight room since the week after the West Jeff loss, they want the doc kroner trophy back pretty bad. I think VC keeps the momentum despite all the changes, they also get NY at home. The NY/VC series has probably been the best matchup since 2017. Like I said before Wellston interest me, they seem to be heading in the right direction again. Meigs will have some big boys but only win 3 or 4 games probably. Unfortunately River Valley and Alexander are a dumpster fire with no change in site. Does River Valley even have a coach yet?

1. NY
2. Athens
3. VC
4. Wellston
5. Meigs
6. River Valley
7. Alexander

Eastern will run wild in the Hocking again. It’s going to be ripe for a 10-0 season. They’ll extend the dominance and all time winning record they have over Waterturd. Second place will be Thimble’s to lose.

Saving Davey has been seen hanging around. Rumor is he is gonna be around this fall in a motivational capacity. Plus to sweeten the deal the PE teacher will be around as an offensive consultant and may even call plays. The three best coaches ever at NY on the same staff spells doom for the rest of the Ohio division and it looks like a royal thumping for Fat Phil from Walnut Hill.

That prediction would not shock me. I do believe every team has a coach in place. I think Athens and Wellston will no doubt be better. NY, VC and Meigs will have pieces to replace. RV and Alex will continue an uphill climb. I think it’s a 4 team race at this point. The champion will most likely be Athens, NY, Wellston or VC.

I have to agree. It’s going to come down to Ny/Athens for the Ohio.

Ny returns a lot of starters plus quite a few JV players who will probably see time.
Athens only lost 3 seniors from last year but had trouble with Ny and VC
VC lost a lot
I think Meigs will be decent…
Wellston (I believe) is still rebuilding after losing a bunch to VC in the last few years
Alex and RV are about in the same boat.

Either way, it’s gonna be a great season!

RV has a lot of returning players and from I’ve seen 20+ kids playing this year that refused to play for the last head coach who could make a huge difference. Definitely still a work in progress but the new coaches have them working hard this offseason.

I would love to see the NY scrimmage and jamboree games find their way into future regular season schedules.

S: Gallia Academy
J: @ New Lex

NY hasn't played Gallia Academy since 1969 and has not played New Lexington since the days of the Greyhounds! Which it's kind of surprising that NY and New Lex don't play given how the towns are practically identical in size and in bordering counties.

I agree.. unfortunately I don’t see it happening. We have played New Lex in the jamboree for years. Hopefully this is our last year with Liberty Union
