Ourlads has him currently listed as backup but either way he should be seeing playing time, good for him hopefully he can get there and just get a chance. Good luck

Reid might be a better game player than practice.

I hope he has a great season.
Re: Ironton grad and WVU LB Reid Carrico projected at top of Mountaineers LB rotation in WVU 24 depth chart
I just saw on a pre season depth chart that came out a week ago had him listed as third. But earlier in the year I saw that had him as the projected starter.

Either he can play or he can’t. That whole idea of players being better in game day represents a lack of focus during the week. Are you saying that’s why it didn’t work in Columbus? If so that won’t play in Morgantown either.
Re: Ironton grad and WVU LB Reid Carrico projected at top of Mountaineers LB rotation in WVU 24 depth chart
I guess I'm saying Reid might not be used in practice to where he shows what he can do. Sort of like when Barrow was at Ohio State. Too many things in sports happen to where good players do not shine at times when needed. It also makes a difference in who is playing around him at the time. Once again Barrow first year at LSU wasn't much better at showing his talent as it did his last year when he had better players around him and lesser QB talent behind him. It shocked me that Reid didn't get to start at OSU. Being from Logan it seems like I would put Ironton players down, but it would have never been the case here. I watch several games where Reid played at Ironton and thought he was a no miss. I said before on here I watched Carpenter from Lancaster more than Reid and I always thought Reid was better. Play wise at OSU shows difference but it might really be the results of something else. Whatever it is/was Reid has missed a great opportunity. I wish him the best at WV and will watch WV when I get the chance.meatswinger wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2024 2:35 pmEither he can play or he can’t. No big deal, and I'm sure it was a typo. Burrow instead of Barrow

Im an Ironton fan & I thought Reid would have played the LB position at Ohio State IF it were still the 90s. But i dont think his skill set matches what Ohio State like at LB in the 2000s and beyond. I just dont think he bring the skill set of a Raekwon Mcmillian or Ryan Shazier or even a Sonny Styles. I think maybe he is a step slow at the position for Ohio State. Especially per what they like their LBs to be able to do.noreply66 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2024 4:25 pmI guess I'm saying Reid might not be used in practice to where he shows what he can do. He’s a starter on the video game by default if that matters

Any updates on how much playing time he might expect. Very surprised that he couldn't crack the starting line up there. Last depth chart I saw showed him as third at his position.

Mr. Carrico is still listed third at middle linebacker.

Carrico has the size, strength, work ethic, and football acuity to be a starter. Unfortunately, I have some friends in Morgantown who say it appears he lacks the speed to be modern D1 CFB starter. That seems to be the curse of D1 prospects out of Southeast Ohio.
Still he should see playing time, he will get his education, and represent Ironton and our area well. Mr. Carrico has done well for himself.

Free college tuition to attend OSU and WVU (two good schools). Yes, he has done very well for himself.Zahns Corner wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 11:44 amMr. Carrico is still listed third at middle linebacker.

When Reid was in Columbus I expressed concern that he didnt have the speed to compete with the likes of Sonny Styles & CJ Hicks at LB and the seo locals went crazy when I said it. Turns out I was correct.Zahns Corner wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 11:44 amMr. Carrico is still listed third at middle linebacker.

Alot of southern ohio football products kinda look like they would have been ideal IF it were still the 90s, but in 2024 their speed and skill sets hardly measure up.Zahns Corner wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 11:44 amMr. Carrico is still listed third at middle linebacker.
