Valley football 2024
Re: Valley football 2024
From what I have heard Valley significantly increased their numbers compared to last year which should really help them with depth
Re: Valley football 2024
If the numbers are still what was reported it will be one of the largest teams valley has put out in a very long time which will be amazing because there main problem has been depth
Re: Valley football 2024
Myself and a few others said it a couple years ago…Valley was in a transitional phase from the legendary Crabtree to the new Crabtree. With change comes culture change and new things. It appears those things are starting to pay off and there’s a buy in.
Valley is headed in the right direction.

Def. headed in the right direction. Gained an athlete that didn't play last year, but a few athletes decided not to play as well. Line will have some depth this year, so that will help. I look for a good showing from the Indians this year.

Re: Valley football 2024
I was impressed with the weight room numbers in the winter. Then I went over to kids camp Monday morning and the facility was packed. The high school team was lifting and the energy and numbers were great. Coach said the number is around 50-55. I hope it turns into wins. The kids looked good. More size than I remembered.
Re: Valley football 2024
50-55 would be one of the bigger teams around wouldn't it? That would be a huge jump!

How did the 7-7 and lineman challenge go yesterday? I know Huntington Ross and Oak Hill were there, but not sure the results.
Re: Valley football 2024
My guess would be that the Indians were very successful considering the competition loltransplant wrote: ↑Thu Jul 18, 2024 7:28 am How did the 7-7 and lineman challenge go yesterday? I know Huntington Ross and Oak Hill were there, but not sure the results.

The lineman did win. Looked like Valley had multiple groups of linemen in the challenge.
I know they finished 2nd to Ironton at that big event last week.
Valley ran two full groups on offense last night. I guess Chesapeake was supposed to be there but showed up the night before. Not sure what happened there.
I have been shocked and excited seeing the numbers and weight room attendance.

Is the numbers still around 50+? Did we lose anyone to transfer or just decided not to play?

From the pictures I saw on Facebook and the 7 on 7, the numbers look to be around 50. Vice transferred to NW and Powell isn’t playing due to baseball. Looks like Waughtel is at QB, and there were some new good looking kids playing receiver. One kid I was told moved in from Columbus. And the Logan kid made some great catches in the 7 on 7. With McNeil and Waughtel, I would say they will be a good running team.
Re: Valley football 2024
Hate that about Powell but I understand that’s what he might have a future in. It’s good to hear we had some kids move in. with those numbers we should be able to compete with everyone on our scheduleBaseball_Dad wrote: ↑Sat Jul 27, 2024 9:46 pm From the pictures I saw on Facebook and the 7 on 7, the numbers look to be around 50. It’s the right move for Powell. His future is in baseball and if he progresses, could be a D1 pitcher. Valley definitely going to be a run-first team now. McNeil is a stud at running back, and Waughtel a great athlete. Saw on Twitter that their line finished 2nd at Ironton 7 on 7. Defense should be solid as well.Izladoom wrote: ↑Sat Jul 27, 2024 11:21 pmHate that about Powell but I understand that’s what he might have a future in. Valley will definitely be in every game this year, but got a real tough schedule. Definitely wouldn't want to face them in D6 playoffs.*

Re: Valley football 2024
Anyone know how the 7 on 7 at Jackson went Friday? Saw some pics of Facebook from McNeil’s mom and there were kids making some catches that I am not sure who they are. When I saw Valley running two groups last week I was impressed with both. It’s not they were playing great but there seemed to be a bunch of options.
I agree that Valley will be competitive but that started happening in the second part of last season. Valley’s staff has done a great job getting kids out.

Re: Valley football 2024
With the second half of last season to build on plus what looks to be new energy in the program, will the Indians improve enough to challenge Waverly and Minford for third place in the SOC?
They say nothing is impossible, yet I accomplish nothing every day.

It was a practice at midnight. Maybe I expected them to do more? That was my first midnight madness practice. But it was a cool/fun experience for the kids I’m sure. I counted about 45-50 players. They did some drills and worked on some things. Looked like there will be depth on the line this year, which will help. Skilled guys will be very athletic and fast. Coaches were coaching them up and teaching things. Kids were practicing hard and giving great effort. Overall it was a good night I’d say.

Re: Valley football 2024
I had to work early this morning so I wasn’t able to go, but I did attend 2 years ago. From what I gather, the midnight practice is more of a chance to build excitement than anything. I’m anxious to attend the Zane Trace scrimmage next Friday. Is there a innersquad scrimmage Saturday?
Re: Valley football 2024
I've seen them in a 7-7, that team will be hanging their hats on the OL and RB. Think they have more size across the board up front than they have in quite some time and they performed well at Ironton big man challenge. On the outside they're not overly fast though either that or the teams I've seen them compete against are speedsters. I love the direction LV is headed though, I know last year they didn't have a lot of seniors in those numbers where are they in terms of juniors and seniors now.transplant wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 5:29 am It was a practice at midnight.
