Week 1: Vinton County @ Unioto
Week 1: Vinton County @ Unioto
Should be a defensive battle. Unioto seems built to stop the run but has some big offensive questions. After the scrimmage last week it seems like Unioto might not have a QB right now. I expect it to be a low scoring, physical game. First one to 14 wins
Re: Week 1: Vinton County @ Unioto
Since 2018, the scores in this week one matchup have been pretty low and close.
2018 21-6
2019 14-13
2021 12-7
2022 21-6
2023 21-20
First team to punch it in 3 times should win according to the recent history. *Now watch this be a 45-42 shootout.

No but he looked very overwhelmed in the scrimmage and got benched. He was their best LB last year so maybe he’s more effective on defense but I’m pretty sure the backup is starting week 1

This games always been a slobberknocker. That won't change this year. Give me the Vikings in a hard fought 21-13 win

Running for his life, for sure; that could fit the definition of "overwhelmed," I guess. But I don't know why a QB would be benched for that. It's also a scrimmage, so isn't it normal to let other players play, too? Other players played at the other positions, if my memory serves me correctly.

Yeah I’m not sure why. I was just saying what I heard. I wouldn’t be surprised is Coy is the QB tonightSyntax wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 10:27 amRunning for his life, for sure; that could fit the definition of "overwhelmed," I guess. Unioto has to be able to get the ball to Cutright and Hoops they are 2 of the best playmakers in all of southern Ohio. Losing Newton at QB was going to impact this year from the beginning whoever they play Long or Coy will have 2 of the best WR on the edges and they have to get them involved.
Re: Week 1: Vinton County @ Unioto
Unioto 45
VC 8
Was 38-0 before backups went in. Coy looked solid at QB with Hoops and Cutright having big nights. Unioto dominated the line on defense. VC did a good job stopping the run other than one big run by Tye Woods

Good win. Coy looked very good, wasn’t sure if he would be ready as a sophomore but he looked the part last night, will only get tougher from here though. Having experienced WRs and a good line in front will certainly help.
Also, the running backs all looked solid with the ability to break off a big run at any time. Kicking game was very good as well, 4 kickers on the roster is kinda nuts and using 3 last night was cool too.
VC really struggled on 3rd and 4th down and not being able to make Unioto honor the passing game at all made things difficult for the Vikings.

Truest statement on this thread. How’d his first game go in his new gig?
