Re: Marietta v Morgan
Morgan a 21 point favorite at home according to the Drew Pasteur line. Have to take that with a grain of salt this early and Drew would say the same. Absurdly high line. Anyway, from what I understand, the Tigers veteran OL should control the line of scrimmage. No turnovers, ball control and the occasional long pass with the veteran QB to keep the defense honest will be the recipe for a Tigers win. I think they take this is a somewhat competitive game.

Taking Marietta. Experienced QB and OLine is worth more than almost anything else. Morgan lost at least their two best players. Throw in a new coach in his first varsity game and the edge goes to the Tigers.

It may be Coach Brown's first game as head coach of his alma mater, but he has 14 years of football head coaching experience at Schalick High School in Pittsgrove NJ. He had a record of 84-68, winning four conference titles and qualifying for the playoffs ten times. He was the Raiders Offensive Coordinator since 2020. He has also been the Raiders' head baseball coach since 2020.

Appreciate the correction! I remember reading this in the paper now that you say it.MoCoSportsGuy02 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 1:11 amTaking Marietta. Picked the Tigers to win this one. Don't think Morgan will be able to handle them on the lines of scrimmage: https://movgridiron.com/2024/08/23/prev ... ns-week-1/

Marietta 13 Morgan 12
A Gritty performance from an inexperienced Raider team. They went toe-to-toe with the more experienced Tigers..

Re: Marietta v Morgan
Marietta was lucky to get out of MoCo with a win tonight. 3 (4 if counting last drive) empty redzone trips and plenty of costly penalties. Great to start the season with a win, but a lot to improve on if this is going to be a successful season.
Re: Marietta v Morgan
I don't disagree with your statement, except saying "Morgan was fortunate to have been within 14 points of Marietta" is also true. Both teams made mistakes that cost them.
Re: Marietta v Morgan
No doubt. Marietta finishes their drives in the first half and the game is never in question. With that said, they didn't and Morgan had an excellent opportunity to go up 2 scores late in the 3rd quarter. A lot of what ifs for both teams last night.
