Re: 2025 schedule
Ironton filling in for Wheelersburg’s SOC bye and Wheelersburg giving Ironton a guaranteed game later on the season would make a lot of sense for both sides. Not playing the game makes no sense.
Re: 2025 schedule
As long as both teams get the same number of home and away games, who cares who hosts first?
Re: 2025 schedule
Ironton needs to move on. it’s clear that Burg wants to go another direction. I would look for other local teams to drop the Fighting Tigers as well. I believe Portsmouth enjoys the tradition and the revenue every two years, so I’d believe they will stay on the Ironton schedule
Re: 2025 schedule
They want to host every year? lol

Word I’m hearing is Portsmouth and valley are done week 1. So rumor is Portsmouth and wheelersburg week 1 and burg ironton dropped to later in the year. Is it true who knows but Portsmouth needs a stronger schedule.

Re: 2025 schedule
Call it what you want. Wheelersburg doesn’t think they can compete year to year with Ironton anymore. Another loss or two lopsided week 1 and Woodward will be heading back to Gallia Co. cause Wheelersburg faithful would be calling for his job. The fix is easy. They are just getting our worked on every facet of the program. Many fans in Southern Ohio saw this coming after Pendelton took over at Ironton and went down to Wheelersburg that first year and made the game very competitive after years of blowouts. I can remember leaving the stadium that night and listening to Wheelersburg fans walk up the hill worried about what Ironton would be in the future. That’s the truth.

They want the $20k profit every year. They aren’t worried about actually beating Ironton anymore.

Of course we all are basking in the awesomeness that is Fighting Tiger football for 2024. Yet Pendleton and success are not eternal. Thus I ask is Ironton's success causing one side or the other to burn bridges? Bridges that may be needed by Ironton at some future point in time?

And what has Ironton done to burn these bridges? No kids on Ironton’s team are from Wheelersburg. Ironton has 3 or 4 kids playing for them who went to another HS at one point. One of those comes from a long time Ironton family. Another has younger siblings in the district.Zahns Corner wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2024 11:16 amPaulcrew wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2024 10:11 am Ironton needs to move on. it’s clear that Burg wants to go another direction. The other 20-25 kids who play major roles for Ironton have been going to Ironton for their whole lives. 12, 8, 24, 77, 26, 7, 3, etc etc are all Ironton kids. Should Ironton have turned away Shaun Terry back when he was a freshmen so as to not upset Wheelersburg?
