Week 6: Circleville at Marietta

Post by Wildcatone »

This is a big one for the Tigers. Win and the playoffs look like a decent possibility. Lose and it's much tougher and really not probable to make it in. Thoughts on this game ?

Circleville is definitely improved from last year. They caught us week one with bad personnel on the DLine and a slow start. They are like Marietta - they like to run the ball. They seem to be on a bit of a slide but they are a decent football team. Their left tackle, 76, is a nice player. Running back is solid too. Defensively, they are fairly nondescript. If Marietta plays well, they can certainly win this game. I’d give Marietta -3.5 odds at home.

Yeah this will be interesting. Circleville was doomed by a disastrous third quarter last week that got unwinded by a botched opening kickoff.

Pasteur has Circleville as a 3 point favorite. This game could go either way really. Marietta struggles on defense against teams that have strong skill position players as most do. It does not seem Circleville has what Athens and Whitehall have as far as speed goes. Will probably be close either way in a physical game.

Tough to gauge this one. Circleville has played the tougher schedule. Marietta has played three 0-5 teams, but Circleville has played two 1-4 teams.

Some interesting tid bits.

Circleville opponents are 13-12. They are 1-2 against teams over .500 with an average score of 29-23
Marietta opponents are 5-18. They are 0-1 against the only over .500 team they have faced with an average score of 21-17.

Seems like Circleville has the more explosive offense, but Marietta plays better defense. Big game for both programs. Should be a close one.

It very well could be a very close ballgame. I'll give a very slight edge to Marietta, being it is a home game.

This game was exactly what I expected. Enjoyed watching it. The Tigers came through when the had to and pulled out the win. This is one of those games that defines a season, from being OK to a very good year. Congratulations to Marietta!

Way to go Tigers ! Was listening to the game on WMOA streaming. Huge win and increases their playoff chances. They really needed this one.

Marietta hasn't had a winning season since 2002. This team just needs to win one of their last four games to break the streak and I think they get it done. Backs against the wall, they continue to find ways to win. Also, MHS certainly did not look like a team that is too one dimensional on their last drive.

Next up is (5-0) Williamstown for the rumble on the river. Always a big game, but even more so with both teams coming in a combined (10-1).

Great win for the Tigers. If they can keep improving their passing game, they are definitely a player in the TSL. Williamstown will be a handful as always, but their schedule has been VERY light so far. Marietta will give them their biggest physical challenge yet.
