Wk 5 ... Logan @ Newark

Post by pfloyd »

No thread for Logan football in the Week that IS Wk #5 ... Logan is now into game 2 of their 1st season at the OCC party ...

Newark sitting at 3-1 losing to a 3-1 Groveport Madison team 13-56 last week ... Logan at 1-3 losing to Pickerington Central 0-54 in the Chiefs' initiation into OCC gridiron play ... in the 3 losses Logan's defensive secondary was targeted by Jackson, Warren & PC giving up big plays in the passing game - Newark has the Big Play potential with jr. QB1 Bodie Smith connecting his #1 target Draylon Peterson (sr) who has 6 TDs on the year / 5 on receptions and 1 on a KO return ... the load in the running game rests with Peterson the younger (Kolton) soph. ... Logan gained a total of 25 yds of offense vs Pick Central hampered by the loss of soph QB1 Carson Tootle to concussion protocol in the 2nd quarter ...

... for Logan , a lot will depend on the availability of QB1 Tootle on the offensive side while the LHS secondary will be in the spotlight again on the defensive side of the ball ...

... What are your thoughts? both teams coming off of one-sided losses... any info as to QB1 Carson Tootle's availability for Friday night? ...

In a game I believe will be played for the basement of the OCC, I’ll take Newark, 28-7. That may be the closest game Logan has in the league.

Logan is going to take a beating in their new league.
The key to Logan's future though is get the players out to play make them want to be a Chieftan.
Ironton went through a rough spot till they got a coach that made the kids believe and want to play.
Logan can do the same the key will be stability.
Good Luck Logan

Logan 0
Newark 55 final

... Running clock the entire 2nd half ... Logan never crossed the 50 yd line offensively ... I believe only 1 first down in the game for the Purple & White offensively ... last week LHS only had 25 total yards on offense - it sounded like the total yds this week will be comparable ... Logan has given up 109 points in the 2 league games in the OCC while scoring 0 ... 3 total first downs in the 2 league games in the OCC Buckeye ... QB1 Carson Tootle for Logan DID NOT play for Logan due to a late hit last week vs Pick Central (concussion) ... also missing was starting RB Ethan Courtney due to injury ... Logan started freshman Lane Ogg at QB vs Newark tonight ... tough situation all around for Logan ... Big Plays were the norm both in the air and on the ground for Newark (38 yd pass 7-0 NHS/16 yd run 14-0 NHS / 20 yd run 21-0 NHS / pass 27 yds 27-0 NHS /Pick 6 34-0 NHS / 8 yd run 41-0 half NHS / 50 yd run 48-0 NHS / 7 yd run 55-0 NHS Final )

I feel bad for those kids. Who in charge thought it was a good idea? I knew it was going to be bad. They will he lucky to have a kid that wants to play in 2 years. I hate it for the kids.

Logan has an invitation to join Twin State league. For competitive reasons is a much better fit.

... I totally agree EasternDspy ... the TSL would be an excellent fit ... league play then to go with keeping some of the rivalries - Jackson, Nelsonville, Athens, New Lex, Sheridan in the non-conference ... great gates/competition levels with where Logan is at athletically and athlete pool wise ... we'll keep watching the sports seasons as we progress through the school year ... Girls Volleyball Logan sits at the top of the OCC Buckeye, girls & boys soccer very competitive (those programs have played Columbus schools for years - definitely not a surprise as Coach Riddlebarger (Head Boys soccer) has developed the Logan soccer program from the youth programs up to high school levels for many many years - does an outstanding job ... as I said we will keep watching as Logan progresses thru year one of the OCC Party ...

Been preaching this for a couple years. Belpre should jump in too along with the Fed Hocking.

Logan needs to build another High school in the southwest/southeast part of the county to give them a Div. II & III school, and one go to the TVC and the other to the TSL.

That was proposed in the late 50s. West Hocking Local School but was voted down by the Largest school in that district. School enrollment now is down in that part of the county .

Lot's of kids unavailable due to injury, including QB1 that has led Logan in rushing and passing in each of the first four games (despite being injured early in the 2nd quarter of the Pickerington game).

Playing a freshman quarterback who isn't already 6'4 and 190 pounds (like last year) is an impossible ask (not the coach's fault - there isn't another QB in the HS program).

The offense had no chance in those circumstances.

Defense was missing a few kids but hard to say it would have mattered based on the way Newark had their way through the air. Logan was healthy on the defensive line and couldn't get enough pressure.

Newark's first conference win since 2019 I believe.

Another freshman. I think it's Coen Hartman.

Interesting that the coach had NO players in senior or junior class prepared to play QB, starter or backup and had years to plan for this. Even more intriguing that an O was planned for one Soph and 2 freshmen to run, with their abilities well known. In case you wondered, that’s dripping sarcasm !
