Post by Wildcatone »

Does this years Tigers team get over the hump that is Williamstown ? Also, how do playoff points work vs out of state opponents ?

For playoff points, the WV team is assigned a division size according to Ohio’s enrollment breakdown. So Williamstown is Division VI, I believe. For 2nd level points, all Williamstown wins are also treated as Division VI regardless of the school size of their opponents.

Additionally, WV schools will hav played less games than Ohio teams when playoff points are finalized. So the divisor will be lower when you play WV schools and there will be games at the end of the season that don’t affect playoff points.

This game will be similar to Athens. Marietta will score but they won’t be able to stop Williamstown from scoring more. They are a well oiled machine with a big experienced line on both sides of the ball.

I think there could very possibly be one difference vs Williamstown for the Tigers as compared to the similarity of the Athens game. We finally showed last week that we can throw the football. It’s simply what beat Circleville offensively, not our rushing attack. Last week’s win I’m sure has positively impacted Drew Warden’s confidence in a big way. Please don’t misunderstand me though, Williamstown has an exceptional program and a very good team this year and will no doubt come into Don Drumm ready for bear. I’m just suggesting that we finally might not be the one dimensional team that we saw in Athens during week three’s game. Go Tigers!

Being that I know nothing at all about Williamstown WV, good luck to the Marietta Tigers in their upcoming matchup.

Williamstown ain't Athens. IIRC it took a last minute drive by the Jackets to knock off MHS last season. This should be a close game as well, but I think the Tigers finish the job. This team just continues to find ways to win, week after week.

Williamstown usually fields a solid team. Should be a good game. Tigers will have to come ready to play

I plan on attending this one tonight. Some great interviews by both coaches and players from MOV Gridiron and the Eric Little High School footbal podcast that are worth checking out.

This game will be close for 2 quarters. After that Marietta’s soft schedule will show. Williamstown will wear them out in the 2nd half.

If you think Marietta's schedule is soft, wait until you see Williamstown's.

I'm glad you posted in this thread. Last year you predicted a 40 point Jacket win in a game Marietta led for 47 minutes. This year you actually think it will be close for 2 quarters, so I'm really liking our chances now.
