Wk 9: Waverly (5-3) (3-2) vs. Northwest (4-4) (1-3)

Post by Zahns Corner »

Mohawks are not that bad. Waverly cannot run or defend the run. Is this the year Northwest breaks through against one of the 3 W's in the SOC2?

I agree Waverly's defense has trouble stopping the run.
On the offensive side however, even in the of years with Shoemaker or Hurd Waverly has never been a running team. It's not the offense identity at Waverly and the Tigers had 118 yardss rushing vs Burg.

Northwest couldn’t stop valley passing attack a few weeks ago can’t see it being any different. If Waverly loses this one however there are some issues in tiger town

Regardless of their defense, I'll take the Tigers over the Mohawks.

There is a difference to losing to the likes of Burg and West in conference than it is to Northwest and Valley nearly earlier in the year. Yes it has been underachieving however

Get what you’re trying to say but when you talk about a Shoemaker Waverly had one of their most complete teams so they could do whatever. You mention Hurd and saying they’ve never been that running team, I’m sorry but when you have a young man come through and break the career rushing record I have to strongly disagree. You might want one thing, aka a passing team, but the reality is they were a rushing team last season especially. Hurd had multiple games where he was up over 25-30 carries so I just have to disagree in terms of these last couple years. This year they’re a passing team, they don’t have the OL or RB to give them the ability to run the ball so you do what you have to do and lean on a 3yr starter at QB and those WRs. Next year this teams identity will be…..no one knows they lose so much talent on the outside.

This could get interesting. Northwest will have trouble stopping the pass and Waverly will have trouble stopping the run. Could see this game being like 35-28 with turnovers deciding who wins. Northwest laid an egg against Portsmouth West, but they still aren't a bad team.

I think they’ll be closer to more of a balanced attack next year, still favoring the passing game a little more than the running game. You’ll have a good QB who can pass and run. And honestly, their weapons on the outside will be solid considering what they are losing after this year. And I believe the O-line will be a little better next year than it has been this year, although they didn’t play bad last week. Big ? I think for next season on offense will be at RB
